I think I may be guilty of doing this. I believe I may have a slight tendonitis in my right wrist from over gripping. I’m not quite sure how to break myself of this habit. I do it when I lift weights too or chin ups. I look at the grips and think I am doing them right, but I must not be. Any tips? Please help, I do not want to cause a permanent problem. Thanks!

I used to over grip the pole. I wore wrist wraps for a little while. it just made me more aware of my wrist position and i didnt need them very long. I think we over grip the pole as a way of compensating in strength. work on some wrist conditioning exercise a few times a week and stretching them as well. do the theraband wrist /forearm exercises that veena has. if you are doing this with weights, then maybe pick a smaller weight and focus on keeping your wrist neutral. this will build wrist strength while keeping proper form. after the smaller weight becomes easy with correct form then move up to the next weight.

however, if you are currently having pain that appears when you do these activities you may need to rest your wrists first before doing any conditioning.
