Good for you for working both sides! Only one calf gets the pain? What kind of pain sharp, stabbing or crampy? Are you maybe slamming it into pole? I would say post a video but don't want you to be in pain, but it would help others see if maybe you are doing it incorrectly and help you out :).

How are you inverting? Are you using your foot to pull you to the pole? After you invert what do you do?
Most of the time people get pain in their calves from improperly inverting. I sometimes however will have my feet and calves cramp up from doing an inverted crucifix/bat hang.

From my right side I kick up with my left leg and pull up with my leg thats where the pain comes in, I also use my torso while pulling myself up but that left leg, I may have to put it in the closet..lol

Is the pain on the side or the back of the calf? If it is the side, it could be your periformis. This is the muscle that starts up in the glute and connects all the way down the side of your thigh and into the calf. You may not be feeling it all the way up your leg yet. Either way, make sure you ice it as soon as possible. If you have a foam roller, use that on the glute, the thigh and the calf. Very gently since it is a new injury. I find that this area gets irritated when I get lazy in my inverts. Give it a few days of rest, ice, and stretching. Look into Veena's conditioning lessons for calfs, and legs in general to get stronger and you'll be inverting pain free in no time!

Thx Saphyre, its right in the back when flex my foot or step down, dont know what I did but soon as it gets better im gonna keep trying, not going to give up because my muscle wanna be a baby about the inverting situation, she’s gonna have to suck it up and take it like a mannnn! Lol ouchh

Please visit all of the inverting threads on the site. You should not be using your feet to pull your body to the pole. A proper invert gets your body into position and then all you should have to do is straighten your legs and they are already at the pole. If your hips are not already to the pole STOP and start doing proper strength exercises to use proper form. I cannot stress this enough.

Great advice everyone! @ rdgcleveland, you'll get there with time. As suggested, work on technique also try drinking plenty of water and try eatting some bananas to help prevent cramps.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

@chemgodess thx for the links, im in tears right now because I really thought I was ready to invert because I have the strength to hold myself upside down. After reading the threads there are “basic” things I still cannot achieve so I need to basically back up and start at level 1. My upper body strength is not nearly where it should be and I thank you “for not stressing it enough” because I really could have injured myself pretty badly by improperly inverting, im glad its only a lil pain in my muscle and not something broken like other threads I have read. Im not preparing

For any competetions so have nothing but time to do things properly, so thx again for the GOOD ADVICE. Im gonna take.it slow and try to catch things on vid this time :'(

There are so many pretty things you can do and learn without going upside down. I am glad that you took the time to read and look and that YOU are more important to keep injury free.
