Ive lost 60lbs last year, its a mix between giving birth and pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
When I was pregnant w/my son I gained 80lbs. The morning of delivery I weighed in at a whopping 316lbs (never again). I lost at least 20lbs on the operation table (1 gallon of fluid, 11lbs baby, yadda, yadda, yadda). I started going back to pole after my 6wk check up from my dr. I normally take 2 classes 2x a week. On average I can burn about 500 calories from 1 class. Now I worked up to that I didnt start right away taking that many classes. I also watch my portions when I eat, and choose fruits and veggies first before eating anything else. I also do things at home that can help with pole. Also carrying around my baby linebacker helps too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif (currently @ 11mos old hes over 27lbs – he better play football). I do ballet conditioning, yoga, push ups, and ocassionally go to a gym.
Pole has always been my first workout. It forces me to get out of the house and just have fun even if its only for an hour.

Adding in any decent exericse to your routine will help you lose weight even if you don’t change your eating habits. Doing both = much better results. Just changing your eating habits with no extra exercise doesn’t work as well (I believe). So, pole is good! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I dropped a stone in about 4 months from starting pole (2-3 times a week) combined with a homeopathic diet (to help my depression as opposed to intending to lose weight) which involved cutting out wheat and sugar. I now swear by cutting out wheat combined with exericse, along with drinking 2l of water a day if I want to lose some weight (I’m someone who regularly swings between 9 and 10 stone so I’m not overweight but I’m not skinny either).
THere’s a girl at my pole school who started pole size 22 (UK) and is now a 16 and all she changed was pole dancing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I lost all 90 lbs of my preggo weight plus another 10lbs…the only exercise that I do is pole! If you want to lose the weight you have to change BOTH your diet and exercise….but honestly I think diet has more to weightloss. How and What you eat effect how or if you will lose weight. I’ve recently been introduced to clean eating and it emphasises diet rather than exercise as the means to losing weight or getting cut! I haven’t stepped on the scale since I started but I’m sure I’ve lost a few pounds…here’s hoping!!
Pole dancing is a fun way to burn some calories…I can spend hours on end dancing! You forget that you are even exercising!!

pole was my gateway to a better lifestyle… its changed my life (on top of becoming a mom in 09 lol ) I used to be the laziest, most unmotivated person i knew, but when i got my pole in july (my 22nd bday present for myself) i’ve become a fitness finatic haha
I eat healthy now and my body has adjusted and if I try to eat a chip or anything thats really not good for you i wanna gag lol I also end of oct early nov added strength training to help with poling. I do chaLEAN extreme, its a program like p90x i’m almost done with the second phase and i love it. my strength has improved dramatically i can see oblique lines in my tummy now and moves on my pole become easier and easier. before my flexability was nothing like it was a struggle to reach past my knees standing bending over hahah and a pushup??? hahah must be joking! now i can reach the floor with my tip toes (huge for me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif ) and can do 12 on your toe real pushups lol which is again HUGE for me the pole has giving me a whole new perspective on life!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif -
wow – all u guys are great inspiration! im trying to save for my 1st pole for my 22nd bday (yay!) and i think im going to get a xpole. along with a regular treadmill and weights workout. i hope it turns out for the best!

Yeah, since starting to pole in early September, I haven’t really lost pounds but I have dropped like 2 pant sizes. Pole keeps me motivated to eat smaller portions and healthy food. Plus, I just imagine how much easier it would be in all my inverts and tricks if I have a little less to hoist up! haha. I just feel better all over when I’m poleing.

I agree with carriej above. However, I’ve actually put on weight since I started pole and am now just over 10 stone I think (although I only get to weigh myself when I go to my friends’ every so often as I don’t own scales – they are bad for your health in my opinion as you get obsessed with your weight!).
But, even though I’ve put on about half a stone, my clothes now fit me better and I feel like I have lost inches – I am hoping the weight gain is due to muscle https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif It’s great tho when you can see what a difference it has made to your shape. I am much more confident now than I was just a year ago and can see I look better than I did before.
According to those stupid weight to height ratios I am apparently verging on the overweight, but that must be the biggest load of tosh (unless I have a skewed vision of what I look like). All those weight charts and telling you what you should and shouldn’t look like is the biggest pile of rubbish going – I know people need guidelines, but some of those things are ridiculous. You should be happy with your body – whatever the shape or size – as that is part of you so therefore it deserves to be loved https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif (rant over!)

Absolutely!!
I don’t go so much on what I weight but whether my clothes fit.
BMI calculators are for ‘normal’ people. Bodybuilders who are all muscle will be technically overwieght. I don’t know if carrying that extra weight, even if it is muscle, carries the same risks as carrying extra weight in fat, but anyone who’s building that kind of muscle should know the health issues associated with their sport anyway. Not that we are bodybuilders ! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif -
so i have a question for you girls, i think it may have been answered already. So when working out on the pole does any know how much calories vs time being on the pole you can burn up to? Just curious if anyone has tried tracking it. Plus is it aerboic or anerboic? (spelling bad) I know I have been doing well on the wii fit plus and I wanna see how much I am burning. I know there is formulas out there that can track how many calories you can burn. Just thought I will bring this up.

i’ve lost maybe 5lbs in the past 2 months but i can clearly see a change which i love!! -
for me sometimes the harder i work out the hungrier i get!! i’m really bad about carbo loading, so i’m sure if you stick to more proteins, you’ll get leaner!
