pole room?
Posted by Legs4Days on February 25, 2013 at 7:12 pmWhich room in your house is your pole room and is it carpeted or hardwood floor? I thought I had decided but now not so sure. More room for me in the very front room but not so sure I want to "greet people" in that way. Bedroom is more private but not quite as much room…
No basement 🙁

I have the same problem. I have a third room that I use for poling, but lately I’ve been setting it up in the living room. Sad panda at the fact that my entire house is carpet:(

I have mine set up in my room which is carpeted. The carpet doesn't bother me but the lack of space does…so I would say stick to room with more space because I kind of hate poling at home due to space. It's such a shame because my studio only has 45's and 50's and mine is a 40. I love 40's. =[

Mine used to be in our 2nd bedroom wich was carpet. I like the carpet casue it was softer on my knees. We recently had to move the pole out into our garage since we weren't using it for the car. So we put some pergo flooring down and finishished the walls. I love it cause there is so much space in there. I was able to keep half of the garage for the pole and the other half for other gym equipent and the laundry. Our room was too small & I also felt a little weird putting it in the front room.

my pole room at my last house was in the formal living room which was the room next to the front door, lol. no doors to close it off & it did raise a lot of questions when people came over that didn't know about my poling. it was the biggest un-used space in that house.
my pole is currently in my master bedroom at this new house & i hate it, not enough room to dance. i have a spare bedroom that will be my pole room whenever i can decide on a pole to get since it's a 10ft ceiling in that room i have to get a new one https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
personally i'm all for using the biggest room with the tallest ceiling & screw it looks of the house if it happens to be in a front room, pole space is most improtant to me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

oh & i have carpet in the pole space. i prefer to dance on carpet in my heels because its softer on me when i do floor work & you can still silde in heels. when i worked at a studio they had hardwoods & i liked it too but i got bruises on my back… i may change my mind someday but right now i like carpet.

My pole room is multifunctional as even with three bedrooms we are lacking space! It’s actually my kids’ play room which is nice; we get to put on music and dance and act silly! They also like to place small obstacles such as building bricks round the base of the pole for me to avoid when I’m coming out of an invert. Due to this I have become super nimble.
I have carpet too and mainly dance bare foot, but it’s useful to slip heels on for floorwork. -
My pole room (with 2 chrome 45's) is the livingroom of my house. Both the front and back doors, open into it. I've never been in the pole "closet", and I don't care what anyone thinks. 🙂 They stay up for family visits, repairmen, salesmen, and anyone else who might come to my door. I often answer the door in my cute little SVC shorts. haha
When I only had one pole, I would just push the sofa out of the way when I wanted to pole. Before I could get the second pole we had to renovate and finish the basement so that we would have a rec room as well as a pole room. 🙂

I live with my mom and had to place it in my bedroom. So I took my queen size bed and put it in the corner of my room anf most of the furniture is on one side of the room to create more space on the other side of the room.I have pictures up of my room. i made decent space around my pole. prob 6ft on one side and about 4 feet on the other sides around the pole. I think I have linoleum or some fake looking paste on flooring lol. It doesn't slide much making floorwork a little hard.

Thanks for the ideas! I also think that I may have to remove my ceiling fan!

Mine is in the master bedroom that is to be renovated. Definetly remove the ceiling fan. I have kicked it a few time doing the butterfly. There is some cool replacement lighting like LEDs with a more traditional mount that aren't big and can be retrofitted if you still need a light. My pole area is carpeted 10×8 and works okay with the pole in the center. 10×10 would be the best though if you like floorwork depending on your height.

We live in a small 2 bedroom apt, so mine is smack dab in the middle of the living/dining room area. We are looking into buying a house this summer and I REALLY want a 5 bedroom house, so I can have a dedicated pole room inside the house but due to finances we may not be able to get as big a house as planned, so I have already decided that I will take over the garage lol. We live in California, so the weather won't be too harsh on the cars outside, my pole room is more important lol. I plan on totally putting down pole friendly flooring, large mirrors, ballet barre etc and maybe use the other half of the garage as a workout area. Can't wait to have my pole/dance room!

I am lucky enough to have a basement which hubby let me do what I want, so I took over the whole room. Have carpet but layed wood over it, have three poles, soon to be four in a few weeks, and an aerial hammock.

Mine is in the family room and i ahve to slide a cocktail ottoman and rug out the way each time. The pole goes up between the ceiling fan blades, but the ceiling is almost ten feet high so it doesn’t get in the way. My floor is carpeting. When i’m done with it i stick it on the plant shelf out of the way. 🙂 . Would love a room to put up a permanent one, but i don’t have the space for it.

I’m lucky enough to have a “retreat” inside my bedroom that is supposed to be like a sitting area, but I’ve turned it not my pole space. It has carpet right now, but would love to be able to put in wood. Otherwise I love it.
