    Hi ladies! Do you know the difference between the round ones and does shape of the crash mat r matter for tricks or falls?

    I don't use crash mats but my feeling would be that a round crash mat is fine because you onlt ever need a certain circumference of crash mat area, but a square crash mat is easier to make. I'd say that's the only difference.

    A square mat has corners that you have to avoid when stepping near or around the pole whereas a round mat is the same all the way round, or that is how I feel about it anyway.

    Good thread!

    Is it worth buying one of these crash mats?  I've been throwing pillows, workout mats, cushions around the pole for new tricks.  I just don't know if I should spend 150 on a pole crash mat.

    I spent more than that on square pink crash mat but to be hones I really love what Starhanpc has ( youtube) it seems mor affordable an easier to move around;)  Sometimes creativity pays better!

    I haven't used it yet, but I ordered a circular one off of amazon. It was the cheapest I could find anywhere and still 5" thick. The blue one is cheaper than the pink, so that is what I got.

    @MichelleH

    I was going to order that blue one too but the review said that it was tearing on the inside from two weeks of use..please let me know how yours turns out! I would love to know whether I should invest the money in it or not. 🙂

    @jennasmom79

    That does look like a good idea! Is it a foam topper? If so, aren't those things over $100 for something that big? 🙁

    @spinnygirl

    I think it is worth it for me to buy a mat because I am prone to falling and hurting myself when I am NOT doing pole work. I'm talking about just walking or cleaning my apartment I'm clumsy..I can't imagine how many bruises and falls I'm going to have when I can do advanced poling…:3

    I just got a pole mat yesterday that I ordered from the LiL Mynx website. There was a great lack of information out there about pole mats when I tried doing searches so I just went with a company I know. Mine is square & so far I really like it. I used it last night @ the studio bc we have 15 foot poles & it was getting scary doing some stuff so high without one. I love it & am glad I got one. It’s the perfect size for traveling & has enough cushion for comfortable dismounts.

    @kobajo84 I wanted to get the 5 in one because I thought it might be safer for cushioning falls. Which thickness did yi get? I looked into the lil minx one before a long time shop.

    The one I got I think is the only one they offer. If I remember correctly it measures 4’x4’x2.5″. I was wanting something with a lot of cushion & thicker too but this one works just great. I teach advanced classes & am going to be progressing our tricks & in my opinion, this mat will be fine for my intended use.

    Thanks for the feedback, I think I'll start saving for a crash mat.
