    hey guys!
So tonight I tried the shouldermount where you take both your legs one side of the pole and flip all the way over? So I had a go really close to the ground, worked out the grip and hey presto, made it over……kinda. The problem I’m having is that I keep catching the back of my head (occiput) on the pole and pulling my head forwards, on one go I saw stars and I think i’ve just about given myself whip-lash ——- ok maybe i’m being a bit dramatic, but it does hurt! I think i’m twisting to the side as I come over, can anyone tell me why or give any hints to stop this before i break my neck??
    thanks in advance!

Are you talking about a SM flip?

I think your talking about the SM flip…that what I call it. I’ll have this one in my new lessons, but for now, here is a video I took of myself when I was learning the move. I did it into a split, not onto the pole. I’ll teach it both ways in the lessons. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

what an amazing move. i mentioned this w comment on vid but do you need to have your hands spread apart more than normal in the double baseball grip into shoulder mount cartwheel? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

Its much less scary if you scoot way down and try it. Almost like a SM on the floor, but a little higher so you don’t bang your knees on the way over!!! The first time I tried it was with Fleur, at the studio where she teaches and I was so scared, because the have hardwood floors. I kept landing to the side of the pole not behind! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
