so yesterday i was practicing and had my hubby taping some moves. i went to do a caterpillar, i was switching my feet so the other one would be closer to the pole, and i fell from upside down, all the way at the top of my pole, and slammed into my left knee super hard. its not broken thankfully but still hurts, i know the right thing to do is not practice today so it can fully heal, but i need some motivation to do that! bc i really wnt to practice! lol! also, my pinky toe slipped out of my dance shoe which happens alot, im afraid ill twist a toe and break it, i was thinking about taping my last two toes together so this cant happen, does anyone else do that? any advice welcome!

oh and this is my theory on how the injury happened, see ive been training alot and i think im getting stronger than i realize, when i inverted to do the caterpillar, i had too much momentum and was spinning (on static) too much to have control, like i used too much strength to invert, i don’t kick so i think i just have to realize maybe now it doesn’t take my full force to get up there lol! so instead of trying to continue the move, i should have tried over with a proper mount. my bad!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_jokercolor.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_albino.gif

Glad to hear you’re ok!!! Bet that scared the heck out of your hubby!

I’ve never thought of taping the toes together but that sounds like a good idea. Let us know if it works. I usually just won’t wear the shoes if my toe comes out between the straps as that drives me crazy!

Firstly, "Ouch!", and glad your okay!!

I have creeper toes too, especially that sneaky little one!! I think it is a result of having to buy bigger shoes (to fit my wider "flintstone feet", as my husband calls them). I just have to be super careful in shoe selections, I always opt for a wider toe band.

I was just thinking the other day about this – I have this liquid band aid stuff called New-Skin and it says that it can be used to prevent blisters when hiking and stuff like that. I wonder if it could also stick your two toes together? Or just on the outside of the little toe to keep it in its place?

If you do decide to tape, I think electrical tape would be a good option. I used to use electrical tape on the shoe bottoms to prevent slippy conditions and it seems like it would be a good grip for your shoe inside too. I’ve also been known to use maxi pads inside my shoes to keep my foot from sliding about. Back in the day they actually had "thong" shaped maxi pads (how that would even work, I don’t know https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif ) so those were the pads I used for my shoes. Or you could go the professional option, they sell pads for dancing shoes (I think called Cloud 9) that work well too – the only drawback is that if your shoes are already snug, they will be even snugger with the pads in them.

    Glad you’re okay!!

I have a weirdly crooked little toe that likes to do it’s own thing. It use to annoy me in martial arts and I would occasionally catch it on things and break it/injure it. I used sports tape and taped it to the other toe and never had any issues. I have taped it once since starting poling (that was because I caught it on our end table and it was not happy) to stabilize it and help it heal, and it didn’t inhibit anything. I say if it’s bothering you, or you’re worried about it- tape it.
