small pole space at home
Posted by polereveur on November 23, 2014 at 9:04 amAnyone out there with a less than optimal pole space at home? If so snap a pic and share. I Just purchased my xpole and before i got it i had searched my whole house for a great spot to put my pole and every where i found was near a fan. Now I’m stuck using the space behind my kitchen. I will post a pic once i get my pole up

Will be watching…. Hoping to get an x pole-xpert for Christmas and like you have scouted my whole (small) house.
Mine will be in my living room. It’s a small space but enough for tight rotations and strength training. I also don’t have height, about 8 ft, so aerial could be out. I’ll have to shove my settee and dining table out of the way in order to train (and then put back) but I don’t care. I’ll have a pole at home, yayyyyyyy. I’ll keep the fancy stuff for the studio! -
I don’t have a picture but I do have a space that is not optimal. It is close to the door and to my closet and table but it works. I just need to watch out not to bump my feet:(

I also do not have a picture of my current space, but it’s quite small, and vaguely rectangular. With my bed so close, and the wall on the other side, I really have to consider which way I’m starting and ending my moves- and, for spins, I can rarely fully extend.
I’ve had other weird, and less-than-ideal spaces for my pole, though. One in the kitchen, where I had to move the table and all the chairs in order to have ANY space to dance. The lino floor was also an issue- too grippy, hurt my feet, I had to get little pads for them! One was in the “computer room,” where all of everyone’s computers were, and that was fairly cramped (and a little awkward, if I wanted to dance and someone wanted to do some work on the internet). Once I had my pole in my parents basement, when I lived there, and it was COLD and I had a couch to contend with, right next to me. Again, had to learn not to extend my spins.
One day, though… I’ll have a proper pole space. Nice hardwood floors, lots of room, mirrors and heating, and enough space to actually set up a camera so I can put up videos!!

Take the fan down! 🙂 We rent and we’ve removed fans so we can put up a pole!

I have a ‘pole room’ but it’s tiny… we removed almost all furniture to put the pole up, but I still have to be very careful with the light on the ceiling and often hit the wall or the curtain while dancing, however, I got kind of used to it and I prefer it to the previous situation where I had the pole in the lounge with a lot of space because this is ‘my space’ with all my gear and it’s intimate, I affectionately call it ‘my little pole room’… in a way it’s funny because sometimes to practice my handspring I end up using the window sill to put the foot on and push off it…

I have no space in my house at all. Well, I might have SOME room in the basement if I clear everything out, but my ceiling down there is extremely low…6’4″ low.

My pole is in my living room and I have to move some furniture to pole, but it’s not a huge problem. It’s not a ton of space but it works.
However, my boyfriend and I share the rental house with his two male friends. So I rarely pole in heels and feel awkward sometimes even wearing my sporty bra tops and short shorts around the “public” space in my house. It was one of my conditions for moving in that I had to be able to put up my pole and that the roommates had to consent to me running around in my “pole skivvies” 🙂 But that doesn’t mean I like being that exposed around my housemates and also, even when no one is home, I pole knowing that they might come home at any time (hence the not wearing heels or less sporty clothes), and my pole is basically right in front of the front door! Definitely less than ideal but eventually I plan to upgrade this situation so I can really explore the sensual side of pole and not just the sporty side.

I can relate. My pole space is less than ideal and not a lot of space either plus it’s in the garage. Need I say more. It’s not all that of a big deal unless I have no way to heat garage then it’s a major prob.
I’m hoping for a propane heater for Christmas:D -
I don’t have a picture right now will try to post one later. My pole is in our outbuilding hot in the summer cold in the winter so I don’t get to pole much at all. It is also a very tight area, not much room at all.

What a beautiful kitchen you have! Gorgeous walls, floors, everything! Looks like it’s out of a magazine. Honestly, I am jealous!

Does the hanging light get in your way? I’m taking my light fitting down as its too near where the pole will join the ceiling.

My apartment is 600 and some odd square feet, so not a lot of room either. I can just barely do plank but I can’t do any of those one-handed spins that throw your body around into reverse grip (which is a bummer because those are so fun!).
I gave myself more space by getting rid of my big circular dining room table and replacing it with one from Ikea that folds up. I really recommend it for fellow dining room polers. It wasn’t that expensive for a table, I think around $100.
