so now it’s getting too sticky!
Posted by Dancing Paws on January 31, 2012 at 7:54 pmLadies! So I've been dancing on my brass for months now with no issues, since I was really dry skinned. Now that I am off all medications, I am sweating a lot. My legs get tacky. Tried poling for the first time since I went off completely the meds and felt like my inner things were gonna rip off? Normal??? I am actually afraid of tearing my skin. I have pink marks under the skin (not purple bruises.) Now I'm stressing. Uh! Its like I CANNOT WIN!

You just can't catch a break can you?
Try using a fan in your poel room aimed at you and the pole. This worked wonders for me during the summer with my powder coated pole.

I know right!? I feel like I'm cursed! Uh, I need to cry.
I will try the fan trick. I might try some baby powder or dry hands on my thighs. I'll be devastated if I can't work this out.

My TG get's very grippy to the point of skin ripping in the summer. You do get use to working around it, but it takes time. You slowly learn how to adjust your grip. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Has your skin actually torn? It's so sticky that in an inverted crucifix, I have to really loosen my legs just to get down from the pole, and it squeals/ pulls my skin the entire way down.
My apartment is only 70 degrees right now; totally not hot at all.

Yes, I have ripped skin off my foot and hand before in the summer when it was hot and humid. I don't have problems anymore though. You learn to be exact in placement so sliding or shifting isn't needed. Grippy poles are less forgiving in that respect, which is why I usually suggest chrome for a first pole. There is no pole that will always work perfectly. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

My TG never got this grippy. Neither did my stainless (obviously.) This is insane!!! I am so scared I'm gonna tear the skin on my thighs (or super stretch the skin.)

How about lotion? Like pole physic? It works great for me on the day that sticky.

I may end up trying that. The thought did cross my mind. One of my lotions actually makes me stickier! I'll have to try a bunch of them and see if any of them stop my poor old thighs from sticking so bad. My hemp lotion might help…I'll have to try it and see.

If the sweatiness is adding more tack then dry hands or Tite grip on the thighs should help, and I’m with chemmie on the fan thing. I’ve ripped skin off my foot on my studio’s brass poles all the time. Like Veena said, you’re getting used to a new body chemistry now. You’ll be fine, you just have to figure out what works, and something will work! Your skin will get more used to the grip as well. It won’t stay this bad. 🙂

Thanks englann. I'll slab some on next time. I'm gonna go try some PS stainless poles soon to see how my body will react with the change. Couldn't grip the stainless when I was dry, but I know my body can grip a lilmynx stainless when sticky. Might have to invest in a second pole if this doesn't get better.

Sensual, I was bowling today for the first time in about a year and realized I had a product in my bag…..it is called Power Slide. It is made for when your hands get sweaty and stick in the holes of your ball. A little goes LONG way. Might be a cheap thing for you to check out.

Awh you poor thing! I don't have any advice as I still struggle with poor grip but I the skin ripping thing isn't that uncommon. I ripped the skin on my hand when I was sharing a pole with two other girls in a class. It was a Stainless Steel pole and I am used to chrome. It got really hot and my hand was bleeding and one of the girl's foot needed a plaster too! Good luck finding a solution.

Lord God my grammar in that post is appalling. I wish there was an edit button https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Thanks Chem. I'll look into that stuff.
Polefairy – I've ripped my hands before from developing blisters, never my foot though.
