Does anyone use the static only pole? I would love spinny but I know that I could not handle it as I have had vertigo before.

I used to, my 50mm was static only. My stage is both. But I stick to static setting. I've had the stage for at least 2 months and still haven't used spin mode yet.

I use only static at my house because…well, that was the only one I could afford at the time. I do find hard now to switch to spinny.. but I have to tell you, yesterday I went at a studio here in  Winnipeg to train, they open just recently, and they have 13ft competition X poles, and the spinning mode was so smooth is was so much easier. I get dizzy pretty fast but yesterday, due to the poles, it wasn't that bad.

I learn on static and then try to move it to spin.  Doing the move and controlling the spin of the pole can prove to be trying, specially when I loose direction in inverts already.  My pole at home does both and Im ordering a static only as well so I can incorporate both styles

It depends on why you are going into pole.  If you plan on competing then make the investment now for a dual pole.  I am not a fan of spin mode…it still makes me want to hurl.  While I will play now and again on it for the most part I have used static only for 5 years and I am happy.

My xpole does both but I keep it on static. But I got the pole that did both to keep my options open, just in case one day I woke up & decided that I want to learn everything on spin mode. However, I’ve been poling about 3 years & I do not do well on spin, never have, I definitely prefer static 100% but still like to know that spin mode is available to me if I ever change my mind.

I only use static mode. My studio is static only right now and since that’s how I’m learning everything, I will stick to that.

However when I bought my pole, I was sure to get one that could spin just so I had the option.

a lot of studios are now doing half the class on static and half the class on spin but I find most the students are happier with it on static. I like practicing new moves on static but once I've nailed it, it's spinny all the way for me! Took me a while to get used to the spinning but because I changed to another studio that only taught on spin, I got used to it pretty quick as I had no option 😛

I hate static https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif My pole is pretty much always on spinny unless there is a static move only like the reverse grab that I am working on.

Like chemgoddes, said…depends why are you are poling.  I think spin is very pretty for those who are strong and can accomplish things on it.  I however, pole for fitness/strength workouts, so static works for me perfectly.  Even though most of the time I'm reviewing and working hard at learning something new.

I do have static/spin options on my pole, I've tried spin couple of times and thought I was gonna die lol  I also had an online lesson with skittles for spin mode, the video is on my profile.  I did accomplish something, and it was fun, but not something I'm interested in as a habit.  My pole skills and level are all I am comfortable with on static.

I LOVE static, but I do spinning pole too. I find it challenging to create movement while using a static pole, so I think that's one of the reasons I like it. In the lessons here I give instruction for both static and spinning pole spins and holds. With the static always being shown first. I think it's a good idea to learn new moves on a static pole, then move on to spinning. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
