    Hi Everyone!!

    I was wanting your advise =)

    Do you all think that it is a good idea to take a week or more off exercise? I am going home and working over xmas so wont get a chance to lift weights or get in any cadio exercise for about 2 weeks and dont want to to reverse any gains that I may have made this year in my fitness level.

    I have read on some sites that I wont lose anything and may come back stronger after a break. is this true?

    Your help pretty please?

    I am doing exactly that (taking 2 weeks off) and I’m totally expecting to come back stronger! I have been working out a ton, my body needs this break. It is very beneficial if your body needs it. 🙂

    A week or two off is good now and then! Whenever I take a break like that I feel a lot stronger and more flexible when I return. It's nice to let your body rest and recover for a period of time every now and then.

    I’m so glad to read this! I’m in the middle of a two week break because of some health stuff and was worried about falling behind. I’ve been staring at my pole and watching tons of videos in the meantime. Is it possible to jump right back in, or is it better to take it easy for a few days first?

    To me, time off is a must. I can go full on for small periods of time and then it's break time. The body needs to repair itself and this can actually make you stronger. Kenzie, it's good to make sure you take extra time to warm up after a break. Your body will then let you know what you can and can't do.

    I also take weeks off now and then, mostly not by choice, but ends up being a good thing.  I seem to be able to jump right back on and surprise myself.  I don't panic as much anymore when I am taking time off for one reason or another.  Let your body rest during this time and anticipate the enjoyment of starting again 🙂

    I'm about to take 5 weeks off pole…  As sad as that is, it'll really give me a chance to stretch more and put my contortion classes and exercises to good use.  I think I'll also take some time to explore more floorwork and chair dancing.  Hopefully taking 5 weeks off isn't going to affect my strength too much when I do get back to poling.  I'll be sure to keep up with off the pole strength and conditioning exercises.

    thats what i thought too. Keeping up with off pole exercise?.

    what is your best off pole strength exercises that you do to help with pole? =D

    I do a lot of core strengthening and resistance bands exercises.  Resistance bands are excellent in working out your arm muscles as well as developing more range of motion.  It's also great for stretching and building muscles in the legs!

    Aw maybe i should try that. Do you get dvds or something? Do the bands build muscle?

    I learned resistance band exercises through the contortion classes I had taken in October.  I bought a pack of them and they come in varying tensions…  They usually come in light, medium and heavy.  I think there are some with extra heavy tension which I wouldn't recommend.  If you go to a fitness equipment store, I'm sure they can give you more info and exercises to do with the bands.
