teddy hurting, more than just skin pain
Posted by Dancing Paws on March 18, 2012 at 6:14 pmSo I managed to do the teddy today. I think my positioning was correct as I had my hip in front of the pole and the pole in my armpit. When I did it, it felt like the pole was pressing hard into the bone in my arm, and it felt really uncomfortable. I have plenty of flesh over the bone, so I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas?

When I do it, the pole lies more along my inner bicep than my armpit. How far in front of the pole was your hip? I like to see it done, at least at first until you get used to it and can play a bit with it, with the pole right in the middle of the butt. Tilt your body sideways a bit, then bring your catch arm up, around, and then down to lock in the grip. As you bring the arm down you should feel your body rise a bit–that tells you you're steady and ready! 🙂
Where on the bone did it feel like it was pressing? Upper arm?

Not to sound vulgar, but someone told me the other day to learn this move, think of trying to touch your vagi area. Make sure you bring your arm across AND down AND close to the body. I haven't tried it yet, but next time I do, you know what I will be thinking! 🙂

Polegirl – Yeah, the pole was pressing into my upper arm bone. I think the pole sat just off the middle of my left butt cheek, toward my tushie crack. Maybe I'll play around with it further down my arm and towards the middle of my butt more.
Lyme – I think I was doing that (without actually thinking I gotta touch my cooter). I grabbed my thigh pretty high up.

Michelle Mynx who is like the queen of the teddy and teddy variations told me to really get that hip out in front. If you look at pictures or video of her her whole butt is in front of the pole and actually sort of tilted up, its mainly her spine that is in contact. She stay in that arm hold for forever and changes her leg postions and I just love it.

Yep the farther in front of the pole you can get the better!

here is a link to Michelle. Not the best one, I have seen her do more and hold it longer but all those links are on my dead acer.

she starts into it right after the 2 minute mark.

Did you engage your arm while holding the teddy? I find that the more I engage the muscles of the arm the less it hurts. And the pole should be more on the upper arm than the armpit.
If you're doing the classic teddy leg position try to really pull the leg that youre holding on up and to the side.

I thought I was engaging, but maybe not as much as I thought. I'll try it again soon and see.
