thigh gap frustration
Posted by abbyga549008 on February 21, 2014 at 7:40 pmHello! I read that girls with thigh gap -space between legs- can’t pole dance and I am very disappointed because I naturally have skinny legs and thigh gap…..

Whoever told you this is clueless. Sorry to be so blunt but seriously?? Look at Veena. Look at the majority of the “big names”. I have thigh gap and I have been poling for years. Zoraya Judd is bowlegged and she ROCKS the pole!

Some moves are easier with more ‘surface area’ on the thighs, but that’s about as far as it goes. Of course you can pole with a thigh gap, you just might need more strength / better technique for one or two inner thigh holds, but there’s no way it should stop you!

My middle name is thigh gap LOL, just kidding. Really though, who ever told you this was incorrect! 🙂

Not true. Everyone has their own physical issues they have to incorporate and overcome. Every poler I’ve ever talked to has an area they struggle with. The most amazing pole dancers will complain of a lack of flexibility they struggle with (shoulders, back, hips, etc) a strength in some area they wish they had, or a fear they have to overcome.

thank you all! Someone from a site called “pole and aerial” wrote it: “Girls with thigh gap can’t pole dance ’cause they can’t keep the pole between their non-existent inner thighs”! Just now I saw a woman with one hand, dancing on the pole!

Flase – I have thigh gap which trying to get rid of as the cross ankle is a bit more tough BUT I have been pole dancing for 6 months and already at the iron x stage so that jkust proves what a load of rubbish thy are talking! 😀

Everyone is different. As with anything in life, don’t listen to the haters 🙂

I’ve been blaming my thigh gap for not being able to do the superman… I can do anything else though, soo… Lol

That’s definitely not true! I have a thigh gap and it just means that I’ve had to build more strength in my thighs to hold the pole tighter. Now I sometimes get “thigh grip” moves more quickly because I’m using strength to hold them rather than just the friction of the skin on the pole.

I never have a thigh gap until I started poling. soooooo I call bull shit Darcit you can do whatever you set your mind to. 🙂

I’m pretty new and have been struggling with thigh gap myself. I’m happy to report some sore muscles and bruising, but success on some of the pole hold moves none the less:)

I definitely have the soreness and bruising when I’m learning new moves that use a thigh hold! I attribute it to having to work the muscles so intensely, and press my legs so hard into the pole to get the grip I need. For example: learning the Titanic climb has taken me forever – but it’s slowly getting more secure. I just can’t do it too many times in one practice or my thigh and butt muscles get really, really sore. Since I’ve always had a thigh gap (even before I started poling) it’s one of those things that I’ve just had to work around.

I have larger thighs and they bruise severely and get really sore. I don’t think the size of your thighs matter. Poling hurts your thighs(for everyone) In fact, I get more bruises than the girls with smaller thighs because there is more tissue pulling and tearing on the pole. with my larger thighs, skin wont really hold me in a thigh hold despite common belief. if I don’t squeeze the hell out of my thighs, I just go into a slow, painful, skin tearing, skin bruising slide. some thigh holds are harder because I cant cross my legs around the pole. CAR CKR are very hard to get a good grip. since I have lost some fat in my thighs I have found it easier to grip the pole.
