Hi all! Altogether I’ve been poling for 2 years with a 14-month break due to childbirth. My baby is now 6 months and I’m ready to whip my body back into shape! The problem is, I know I should exercise and workout daily, but I lack the motivation/drive to do it, but I want to lose the weight and regain my abilities sooooo bad! It has gotten to the point I will leave my home looking like a spazzed out college freshman during midterms (bed hair, wrinkled baggy clothes, miserable displacement) and this is the total opposite of how I want to be. I’ve tried planning and scheduling but something always comes up :/ . I want to be more disciplined, but I’m not sure which way to go at this point. I’ll admit, at first, I was in denial that anything was wrong until my mom said I looked like a stereotype lol. Then I knew it’s time to reach out and grab some advice. I’m all ears ladies (and gentlemen)! Have any of you gone through this after childbirth (or bringing home baby for men)??? HELP!!!

Many times I feel I don't want to workout for a week or so. What I do is I take a shower & wear the 2 pieces to stand in front of the mirror. I force myself into warming up & the body will want to go further into stretching & all that. The videos of girls working out in youtube give me the motivation. Be a good girl! Move your body! LOL.

It sounds like a cliche: but JUST DO IT. Once you get started, you find your motivation again. I also sometimes have a motivation-low, but I'll 'just do it' it and then I think: I forgot how much fun it is! Dont set to much goals for yourself, just have fun, thats important to stay motivated.

The further you get into it, the more fit you will feel, the more desire you will feel to pole. At least, thats how it is with me. The more often I pole, the more motivated I am. If I didnt practice for a while (already after like 3-4 days) I am way more lazy about it.
Remember how awesome it feels to feel superfit and strong (and sexy)? How satisfiying it is to finish an awesome pole session / learning new tricks? Go for it!

Thanks guys. Idk I guess hearing it from somebody other than my normal circle makes that much of a difference. My parents (who are very traditional) know I have a pole (its in the dining area) but they don’t make me feel bad or degrade me because of it. I told them it was for fitness (not a lie) and showed them a training maneuver for getting into an invert. (I’m far from it). Even still, it’s not the same as a poler giving you advice. I mean, I don’t think a baseball player would get the same impact from a basketball player unless he/she plays the sport as well. Fortunately, I’m slowly emerging from this slump and I think I shall conquer my treadmill for 30 mins today 🙂 . I appreciate your comments ladies. Although I don’t know you personally, I know you know what I’m going through so to speak and it means a lot. Ok, I’m done with the sappiness lol. Thanks!

Being a new mom you will find it even more difficult.  You will seem like you are being pulled in so many directions that the first thing that always gets put aside is YOU (come on we are women, it is how we operate!!).  The only thing I can suggest is to start by doing just one thing for yourself every single day.  And I mean EVERY day.  Treat it like eating or sleeping….you cannot exist without that.  It can be as simple as wearing lipstick or doing your hair or it can be taking 10 minutes to jog in place or do sit ups or researching healthy recipes.  DO IT EVERY DAY…no excuses!

@chem I will! I will begin by trying to get on my treadmill for at least 15-30 mins at least once (trying for twice) per day. Seeing as how I have one month until my next fitness test, I think I’ll be ready. Thanks a lot for listening. I really appreciate it.

When I just can't get going, I make myself take a hot shower and put on some lipgloss.  Then I put on a clean workout outfit and leave the house to get a coffee.  Once you're out of the house, the world seems a lot brighter and more approachable.  🙂
