thoughts on the Nov challenge?

I suggested one a little while ago – Pole Pets! Since our pets often end up in our videos anyway, it would sort of be fun to purposefully include them. I got the idea when I was chasing my dog around my pole and doing chair spins to jump over him, LOL.
Other themes…
Hair Metal (although we did just do Rock n Pole)
It would be kinda fun to re-do the "You danced to WHAT?" challenge.
"World music" ? Like Celtic, Caribbean, African, Indian?
Sugar & Spice – Do a really sweet video and/or a really saucy one. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
A dance of gratitude for us U.S. folks that the election is almost freaking over!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
Or maybe you could challenge us all to work on stuff on our bad sides for a month. Which we all should be doing anyway but a reminder doesn't hurt.

wow, pancake has all of these awesome ideas. I suggested doing a non-dominant only performance a while back, and actually stuck to it for a couple days– I learned a bunch of spins and did some tricks I never did before from doing it (my first and rare aerial sm was on my left side).
Personally, I love the “you danced to what” suggestion. I would anxiously await gangnam references in the videos. ^_^
Other challenges I’ve thought of were:
Opposite Music Genre challenge. You make yourself dance to music you otherwise wouldn’t listen to (mine would be country, and I feel like I would be the only one masochistic enough to do this one @_@)Props: Halloween is over, and we just did a costume challenge, so why not make use of those left over props? Some pole dancers here use silks or hooping in pole. Heidi Coker did an awesome performance at PoleArt using ribbons as a prop. It would also be awesome to maybe encorperate some awesome chair dancing.
Someone recommended a blindfold challenge, and so I’ll throw it out here even though it isn’t likely — but I love blacklights. I think a blacklight challenge would be awesome. And for those of us without blacklights, you can get creative and use some glowsticks and battery operated lighting gift wrap. Or anything else glowing that you could think of that isn’t typical lighting (mood lighting.)
Here’s one that might be time consuming, but super fun: There’s a form of
photography called stop motion. Since 4 minutes and 30s (the average song length) might be too long to stop-motion the entire thing, maybe cut it down to 30s to 1m? It will challenge the dancer to get everything they want to say into a short amount of timeFinally, the ultimate flow challenge: pole dance to a piece that is not musical. It could be sounds like a rainstorm, spoken poetry, an exerpt from a movie. I feel like this would really challenge those struggling with flow, and it’s also something you don’t see every day (the closest I’ve seen is Michelle stanek’s latest performance, and it was still really musical)
My challenge ideas are starting to get weird. I was trying to think of a way to encorperate food into a dance. Maybe this niquil is making me loopy 😡
also;I would love to see a doubles challenge, but I know there are too many people like me who have no one near enough to them to cherograph that sort of thing :/

I love the non music challenge!
How about dancing to a song a loved one (mum, dad, grandparent etc) loves (inspired by Paunobs tribute dance).
Dancing to a classical piece?

I think the idea of doing tricks on our weaker side would be really helpful and beneficial, but also really frustrating lol.
I've found dancing blindfolded to be so much fun and really helpful for getting in tune with the music.
How about something that would challenge our strength and creativity? Should we choose one or two of our favourite tricks and try to do them over and over, but with interesting transitions and variations, so that the whole routine is still interesting? I find myself often deliberately avoiding doing the same trick twice in a routine for fear of making it boring or repetitive, but I think that sometimes busting out a move 5 times in a row or something can make a statement and be impressive. Especially if it requires a lot of strength or skill ….I really like this idea! My sister came up with it! haha

I was thinking either dubstep music or opposite side/non dominate side. Any preference?
-
I'm all for both of those! And pretty sure if you make it one, I'm going to do the other too! (i.e. work on non-dom side to dubstep music.)
-
I dunno…It seems many have read '50 Shades of Grey' and it's sequel .
There's the trilogy that I read "The Girl With TheDragon Tattoo", and the other Trilogy "Hunger Games"…
It could be a November Trilogy or Shades of November…we've had wind, snow, rain, Englands weather here…
I dunno still…but I think I have a theme going on here.
-
I like Shades of November! It’s true, the past few weeks have been crazy for a lot of people. Maybe some self-care is in order.
-
50 shades as in like BDSM kind of sexy or just autumn themed? I like the BDSM idea. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
I also like CapFeb's non-music suggestion, and even dubstep! Dubstep is SO much fun to dance to.
-
I think leave 50 shades up to interpretation 😉 although now you have me thinking of a BDSM dance, that could be fun!
Also, because I love alliteration, I think we should have Dubstep December.
-
I love the idea of dubstep December! I will probably end up doing a performance to Maya Angelou’s “Phenomenal Woman” just because I’ve always wanted to, regardless of if Veena makes a prose challenge or not 😀

@darlingdeerest
LOL…What is BDSM?
You can all laugh but I don't know.
-
Tovah- BDSM refers to "Bondage, Dominance/submission, and masochism" I believe. I've heard a couple of other ways of unpacking that one as well.
Generally it's what is used to be an umbrella to refer to the "kinky bedroom stuff," usually also referring to skimpy leather outfits (sometimes with metal buckles, spikes and such). These kinds of relationships, specifically the Dominant/submissive ones, are often misunderstood by general society. Considering it is the Submissive who is actually "in charge," and not the Dominant, and there are HUGE amounts of respect and trust going between both parties, it's a fascinating subculture.
I personally don't find 50 Shades to be an accurate portrayal of the intricacies of these relationships. </Rant>
ANYWAYS I can't really do an "opposite side" challenge, so perhaps a November/fall kind of thing?

I have lots of music suggetions for dubstep if it goes that way.
Not sure all of you can see this but there is a TON of really good music here. Alethea is NOT a dubstep fan and decided to dance to it during Bringing Sexy Back wseek. She asked for suggestions. Here is the response:

If you are freinds with her on FB look back in her timeline to around July 11….there are a lot more suggestions. Which just reminds me that I really need to get to downloading some new music.
