I find that sometimes people have a different hand positioning when they do it from an invert – generally a lot further apart than if they'd done it from a handspring. This could probably put your balance off. It could also be body positioning, if your torso normally faces away from the pole from a handspring but your body if facing the pole from an invert could throw off your balance. Pictures or videos would help, hard to say without seeing you do it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif good luck!

I've always found ayeshas from inverts harder than the ones from handsprings! I think it's something about the moving the body away from the pole and engaging vs engaging from the get-go (as happens in a handspring). In my case, it also doesn't help that I handspring on my "wrong" side and invert on my "right" side so the positions are opposite. Anyway, the only way I've been doing a TG from an invert lately is to first do a shoulder mount from a respect grip and then once my legs are up, it's just a case of moving body and one hand round the pole and caterpillaring up a bit,  'cos the top hand's already in position – I don't know if trying that might help a bit? Just as a different way to try it to try and get the neural pathways firing:)

I've been doing handsprings(any grip) for years and I still can't do a handspring from an invert solidly or consistently. I just feel super off balance. So you're not alone.

Here are a few things I think about or look for in these:
-try to get as close to a straight line from your bottom wrist through your shoulder to your hips as you can before you release your legs so you already have a good line of stability set up. Then make sure to engage your abs.
-keep your focus up to the ceiling. If you actually let your head lie along the bottom arm it will help keep your shoulders level which is typically the cause of the wobbly unstable feeling and falling out of it.
-also if you invert on the side of which arm you want on top, you don’t have to change your grip with that hand so you’ll already have a secure placement for it.
    Good luck 🙂

    Hi Bexboo,

I shared my vid of my TG journey on my profile.  What worked for me was practicing iron X and other strength holds like the Chinese flag with stag legs and then going back up into Ayesha.

Also when up the pole, practice the hangman pose and hold that for a few seconds to build up strength.  try not to let your bottom half collapse towards the pole as it makes it harder for you to lift.

I find it is one swift movement when you first start learning the TG lift: you kick yourself away from the pole to give momentum, legs up, push with bottom arm and pull with top arm… all in one movement and no pauses.  Cos of the momentum, this is more like an air TG handspring but very quickly you'll be able to lift from hangman position.

    Hope it helps xxx
