This is very normal, and it’s not as bad as you may think. I think even Felix Cane does some kind of re-gripping. You’ll just have focus on getting your hips high so that your leg won’t interfere with your hands. It usually takes that you pull up a bit after the invert to get above the hands. Possibly you could start with your hands a little lower, you can at least try and see. But again, it doesn’t look bad.

I’ve been needing the same help although I think yours looks great!! I cannot for the life of me get my knee to hook so I’m only hooking at the ankle and at best the calf even though my hips are up as high as possible… Super frustrating with all the repositioning needed to secure a move that comes right after and not being able to just flow into a combo. Are there any stretches you guys suggest (maybe this will help)?

Thank u. My older v to gemini is similar where the calf was hooking more than straight kneepit until I realized I kept doing that which hurts my calf. I found the prep exercises of laying on the floor arms raised beside the face, then raising my legs in a pike/v position all the way up my head then slowly controlling the legs back down to help.
We will get there!!! -
When you’re in the chopper position pull up really hard before hooking the outside leg. It should give you just a little more height and will help you avoid trapping your hand. 🙂

Maybe you should try to tip your hip a bit more when you try to hook your leg in. It seems like that it’s because the hollow of your knee can’t “reach”, which is why you put the top of your calf on first to pull it further. I’m not sure though, but my best advice must be to tip a bit more when you pull upwards to hook. 🙂

From what my instructors have said and what I’ve seen, Dust Bunny is right. Do a pull-up while in the V position and as you’re pulling yourself up really hard, quickly hook that bent leg on the pole.
I was told to practice this, you can do a V and then practice doing pull-ups while in that pose. It’s very hard and the movement is very subtle but as you get stronger it will be more noticeable as you pull up. -
Thank u… When doing a v invert do I fully straighten my arms to do d pull up? I find it hard pulling up w straight arms.

Hmmm, that is a very good question! I also tried to practice this pulling up while in a V tonight and I also had the same difficulty.
I just assumed because I don’t have a great deal of upper body strength. =p Hahaha.I’m not exactly sure of the answer to be honest. I thought I’ve seen my instructor do it with straight arms but that’s also because she is insanely strong.
I think you can try to play around with both bent arms and straight? My arms automatically straighten once I am fully in the V and I think the same goes for everyone???
Is it even possible to do the V whilst both arms are bent?! -
Haha. Agree. Well will keep practicing… im in this zone where I can do so many stuff but cant get over a clean vinvert to gemini and its driving me nuts. Ahahahha…will update soon! Thank u!

If you go to my page I just posted a video with a million Gemini practices, I’m struggling with it too. I have noticed the lunge stretches (that are shown under veenas Gemini video) feel really helpful…I suspect it’s got something to do with hip flexor flexibility..keep us updated!
