venting because it just is not fair!
Posted by poletrickster on November 23, 2009 at 10:52 pmDH was watching me practice and he gets up and goes to my pole and with the snap of my fingers he is inverted and sliding down the pole perfectly. I still do not have the strength to invert but I have been building it and practicing and its his first time on the pole and he masters it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif I know I will get there eventually. Thanks for listening to me whine

Hear, hear!! I get mighty jealous of that sometimes!! However, they don’t have our curves and slinkyness and lack the ability to give life, so THERE!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
So you go ahead and VENT https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_queen.gif -
Yep a friend of mine did a perfect shoulder mount the day I got mine and then did a PERFECT flagpole just to really tick me off https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Sooooo I just got vicious with my workouts and did a flagpole 2 weeks later. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I hear ya girl. I’m still can’t believe the day I got my pole my boyfriend did a perfect shoulder mount in his tshirt and jeans just to show me how i was doing it wrong https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif . I’m still working on it and he still comes to put his two pennys worth in and show me how it should be done. grrrrrrrrr https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif
Well ha ha he can’t do a CAR or CKR or a crucifix or a wrist seat or well anything that means his bits touch the pole so we’re better really https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif -
I always tell them that if they’re really strong they should be able to do a Superman… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif or even just climb and sit, the amount of whinging my boyfriend does when he tries to sit puts the entire male race to shame!

Don’t get upset! Everybody probably has that one or two moves they can do on the pole without ever seeing one before–either because they were a gymnast before…or learned a few moves watching someone else pole. It’s the ability to put the moves together in a flowing sequence of combos and with good technique that distinguishes a real pole dancer or pole athlete.
One of the best things pole has taught me is how to be patient in setting my own goals relative to my own age, athletic ability, and aptitude. I don’t ask myself when am I ever going to be "good" at this anymore (Never, lol!)–I just watch videos and look for interesting and attractive moves that look like they are within my range of ability. Then I work on them until I succeed or fail. Because of the circumstances of my set-up–short pole in a basement–it is hard to follow a sequence of lessons. I don’t have enough room for many of them–so I skip around. That can be a bad thing, because I don’t build fundamentals in an orderly fashion.
As for men and the shoulder mount–except for that one accidental success..I still really can’t do that move. A boyfriend or spouse that spontaneously can do a S/M must have had some athletic background before coming to the pole! Either that or he is a natural born poler!

honey don’t worry about a thing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif
i went through the exact same thing. i was the ONLY person in my class ( the 1st 4x was on a pole was in class but they’re too far away..ne way..) AND there was 52yr old woman (total beginner like me) as well as someone w a shoulder injury. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
than my friends come over when i get my pole and almost everyone can invert NO PROBLOEM. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif
i was so disappointed and hard on myself. the time spent beating myself up over it got me nowhere but with lots of patience, practice and praise for little steps i got there and you will too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
it’s just going to feel that much sweeter when you nail it! keep us posted and good luck!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif -
I had been poling for months, barely inverting. Then my hubby jumped on the pole and could instantly do the flag and other hard moves. He looked at me like I was just a wimpy little girl.

So then I started showing him some spins, the shoulder mount, plank- and I kinda enjoyed watching him fail. He can’t take the pole burn at all. My bad, but I just had to knock him down a peg. Now he respects the skill involved. -
ahhh!!! isn’t that the worst?!?!?!? but guys cant be sexy like we can, and they can’t wear cute little outfits or gorgeous high heels…..so really, even though they can get a few macho moves, big deal. us girls still can do it better https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
(I say this excluding my favorite male polers on this site, you know i love you you guys!!)
