    Hello all
I was just wondering if anyone lost a good amount of weight by strictly poling alone or am I doomed to have to run? lol I hate cardio! I took a fitness assessment yesterday and apparently my "body age" is twice of what it should be. Ive gained 20 pounds this year and want to lose 30. Im really starting to feel the weight on me. I get super winded walking up the stairs to my apartment. Thanks!

I have not lost any weight poling alone. I currently have lost inches by doing cardio and weight lifting too. I dislike running but spinning ( indoor cycling) is awesome! I sweat and feel like I could die every class BUT I don’t and I love it. It is also addicting. My legs got more toned and smaller so I’ve been told. I notice a little. The thing about spinning is that you’d never push yourself as hard as a class with an instructer and peers. You can keep a different pace or lower gear but the motivation is such you really try hard to get better. Plus no one leaves you behind! LOL !

I haven’t (but I’ve been the same weight/size since 7th or 8th grade…I grew fast), but I know there are several ladies on here that have.

It really depends on how intensive your pole workout is. It if has lots of dancing (a.k.a. cardio) you’ll prob shed faster. Where as if it is more strength focused then muscles you’re building will help you burn the fat more easily when you are doing cardio, but you still need that cardio element.

I have combined good diet with working out (30 min cardio/90 minutes weights 4-5x/week plus about 30-40 minute pole sessions 3-5 times a week and have lost 28lbs and 39 inches in 10 weeks. It is hard work, but it is possible to lose the weight quickly.

I think that while you can build up your muscles poling, you can’t really lose weight with it alone. If you hate cardio, why not take dance classes instead? That’s what my friend suggested when I asked her what is the best way to lose weight quickly. Also, make sure that you always practice eating healthy and portion control.
