what do I wear to class?
Posted by Seven on April 9, 2012 at 2:19 pmI know the answer is probably obvious but I figured I would ask just to settle my pre-class anxiety. At home I wear a sports bra and boyshorts that works right? Thanks

If you feel uncomfortable showing up in booty shorts and sports bra initially, just come in layers. I usually show up in yoga pants and tank top when going somewhere new and then peel off to sports bra and shorts as I warm up if it feels appropriate for the class. It almost always does.

Thank you I’ve been wondering what to do…that sounds like a good plan!

Ugh…I could not find it easily….there was a cartoon I saw posted that showed the progression of a pole dancer and the longer they had been doing it the smaller the clothing was.
It really depends on if you are going into a beginner class or an intermediate class. If you walk in with booty shorts and a sports bra to a beginner class you will probably make your classmates and possibly the instructor uncomfortable. Tank + booty shorts + sports bra probably not as much. I always layer, too. Usually the tank, shorts, bra, full length leg warmers and a thermal (unless it is summer).

Is this what you were talking about Chemmie? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Thanks for posting the "cartoon" of what pole dancers wear over time. It's so true. Happened to me : )

It's so true! When I first started out I went to pole class in yoga capris and a tank top, eventually bought short shorts and wore that with a tank top. While most girls are still very self conscious about their bodies, that's what most of them still wear in class. Because I don't just want to be like "hey here's me in a sports bra and short shorts", I wear a tank top but hike up the tank top to expose just enough torso skin needed for tricks, but not enough to make them feel uncomfortable around me in class.

I agree, depends on what level of class you're going to! I usually see beginners wearing tanks/tees and athletic shorts or yoga pants… once girls get up to intermediate you see a lot of short shorts and tanks hiked up for side grip as needed, and then once you hit advanced everyone's in little shorts and sports bras, lol. But yeah, I generally come in a few layers and peel off as necessary.
Victoria's Secret yoga shorts seems reeeeeally popular with everyone if you wanna go with something safe… they're short enough to where you can pole in them, but have enough coverage that you can wear them in public without feeling inappropriate, lol.

Thanks everyone im starting to get the idea….layers. its hard because im advanced and bought some private lessons from a studio that is opening in my area. Im so afraid of wearing something that will make a bad first impression. Lol im gona check out those VS yoga shorts right now!
