I’ve bought some latex socks yesterday and tried them on the pole. They help SO MUCH especially when I climb (what a surprise ! 🙂 ) I was wondering what you guys think, is it better working without them until building up a good strength, ‘coz I notice after I take them of and climbed again it felt twice harder ??

That’s why many dancers use to wear boots! Makes climbing a breeze, however if you only use the sock you will not build up the strength you need. To build strength for climbs make sure you doing, Pole Holds, Pole Rows, Forward and back scapula, pole squats, Wide rows and things of that nature. Here is the lesson for the Basic Pole Climb https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/233115a0-b889-11df-856f-001b214581be Keep in mind this is a strength building climb. There are other climbs you can use when performing or dancing that take less energy and they look pretty too.

I have a pretty wide thigh gap, plus I’m skinny, so climbing is very hard for me without ankle protectors. What other climbs would be easier?

It’s not that I dont have the strength to climb, it’s that I have like no grip.

X ankle climb and performance climb both look nice and save energy. Thigh gap has nothing to to with climbing, because you don’t use the upper thighs to climb at all….. if you have grip issues be sure that both you and your pole are very warm. If you still can’t grip then it could be an issue with the finish of your pole not working well with your skin and climate. If that’s the case try some grip aids. 🙂

Take a look at Mighty Grip Ankle Protectors that afford both grip and protection from bruising.
