A couple things with SM…I personally would work on holding a shoulder mount V as long as possible…..get used to hanging out in that position.  I would also try working on getting into a shoulder mount from the floor or working on a reverse shoulder mount, controlling that puppy all the way down.  When I SM I will usually use that as a different way of getting into a caterpillar climb.  Google Aerial Amy and look at her shoulder mount blog.

    +1 to everything above.

If you can do a slow controlled shoulder mount, you open up a whole new world of things to do. I like to SM to caterpillar, SM to superman, SM to brass monkey, SM bounces/drops….. it seems endless.   🙂

Shoulder dismounts/reverse shoulder mounts are a GREAT way to condition, and they're hot hot hot to watch when they're all controlled and slow. Awesome, so awesome.

i love the to do a shoulder dismount into a shoulder mount planche/stag and then a sm flip. i really love that combo.

but i think the suggestion to work on your shoulder mount v is really good. it´s looks much better when you can hold the position and don´t place your legs directly on the pole.

you could also do a shoulder mount tuck or jacknife
