which grip aid for really sweaty hands?
Posted by Dancing Paws on March 3, 2011 at 11:39 amHey all –
For those of you who are big sweaters like me, which grip aid works best for you? I always have clammy handsm, and they just get worse when i warm up. The weather here is humid too, so it add some slickness to my hands and body. I have a sample of iTac2 – level 1, but it isn't very grippy for me. I also have some mighty grip, but I still slide right off the pole and leave wet smears from my hands. Also, I have a TG X-pole (my SS is useless in this climate.)I'd really appreciate your help.

I prefer iTac Level 3 for my hands and vinegar for the pole.

I haev major problems with this and have found a combination that works for me (at least long enought to get through a perfoemance!)
I rub a tiny amount of shaving foam on my hands and then spread 'Dry Hands' all over my hands. I let it air dry so. my hands are white. I find dry hands on it's own doesn't work for me but this combo has been a life saver.
Good luck 🙂

Ooh thanks for the shaving cream + Dry Hands tip. Do you think Tite Grip would work instead of Dry Hands? I'll give it a go to get through this awful Perth weather 🙂
-
I'm in Perth too…. where do you do classes?
Personally i find dry hands better than tite grip but you could give it a go
PS. just noticed how bad my spelling was in my last post…I rely in spell check way too much!

I've just started at Bobbi's this year, so I've seen your Miss Pole performance on the DVD 🙂 Very awesome. I've been at another pole studio, and also self-taught a little. I'll have to give dry hands a go.

Thanks Cinara. MPD in Sydney wasn't my best show, mainly because I slipped alot! I'm looking forward to seeing the Christmas show DVD though. By then I'd worked out my little formula (oh, and I use the shaving GEL on my legs) and didn't slip one bit in my show or the high advcned routine. I find it's best when I've washed my hands before I add all my stuff though
-
ie. gel on legs…. then wash hands……then apply shave cream and dry hands

Thanks guys. I'll keep these in mind.
I am not sure i know the difference between shave gel and shave cream…
i tried spray on antipersperant yesterday but it seemed to make my hands kinda slick. Maybe I did it wrong. Anyone ever used iTac2 level 4?

Oh btw, I was totaly considering the vinegar idea, but I am afraid the acidity from the vinegar and sweat would ruin my TG pole.

Chem said the vinegar would not ruin TG. Just make it’s gold color fade faster than your hands would make it fade. Not so much, corrosion.

Ok cool. So is it straight distilled white vinegar? or diluted?
-
If you have that much of a perspiration problem on your hands you may wish to look into gloves. Available in both tack and non-tack as well as 1/2 fingered and full fingered.

Straight distilled white vinegar (which is already diluted in water). But if you cant find that, then white vinegar and dilute it 50/50 with water.

Is using the distilled vinegar on a chrome x-pole safe?
