Ok, so there have been a number of posts about wrist wraps and supports over the years here. I have chronic tendonitis (from more than simply pole) and have tried a number of different supports – from tape through to velcro wraps. I have seen a hand physio, I know the whole 'don't rely on supports' argument and also would prefer to have that little bit of support to prevent further injury.

So, the point of all this, is after a suggestion on this forum, I tried out some wrist wraps by vertical swag (a fellow pole dancer'. I LOVE them. They feel firm without cutting off circulation, they are easy to put on and breathe really well so don't get all stinky (a problem I have had with other styles of wraps). Especially the first time, they need to be tightened regularly while training, but that is so quick to do it really hasn't been an issue, and after 2 wears I have had to tighten them even less. In the evening after heavy training normally my wrists would have hurt a lot more than what I have found with these – this may be just my experience, but it is true for me nonetheless. On top of that, they are just beautiful colours.

Seriously, very happy with this purchase. Thought I'd share 🙂

I just got the same wrist wraps and I love them too. My left wrist is weak from spinal damage and I was hurting my wrist during practice. my wrist is getting stronger but right now I need support. yep, I worried about the "don't rely on aids" stuff too. But you know, its either wrist wrap or no poling at all. I'm not getting stronger off the pole but I did take a break for a while and now that it feels better I started using the wraps. No more pain!!! most of the time I only wear it on my left wrist, but it has helped so much. when I got the wraps I was wondering to myself – how the hell is this gonna help? but it did. it keeps my wrist in a neutral position  without hindering movement. Yay for Vertical Swag! 🙂

I have similar ones called strength wraps (for lifting & pole!) but they look to be the same thing. I absolutely adore mine and they have made such a difference. I tried quite a few before I settled on these ones but I love how simple they are but how much support they can provide with just a twist 🙂

cool. I just found instructions online how to make them. Going to try it out. I have a bad left wrist and the powerball has been helping, but can use some extra support until its strong enough.

I don’t use wrist support often but I bought some of the wrist wraps to try and didn’t care for them. For myself I was looking more for support of the wrist joint (the wraps go above the joint) so I prefer to use a good old ace bandage. I buy the kind that stick to its self. 🙂

Veena – I know exactly the ones you mean – I have those too and alternate using them. For me personally, both work in different ways (as my injuries are chronic) so having both is great  🙂

Shelby – Yep! They are just another version of those – I used something similar for weight lifting too 🙂

I’ve been looking into the whole idea of having wrist support recently after having a lot of pain in my wrists while balancing my upper body holding a splits position, I’m still a fair way from the floor & have to hold a lot of my weight up on yoga blocks. After hunting around I found what seems to be a fairly straightforward tutorial for making a pair.
