Hey there stainless steel is probably the slickest of all the xpole finishes. If going for an xpoke I recommend titanium grip. I have had chrome and didnt like it and upgraded to titanium grip. The studio has chrome and size 40.

I used the xpole stainless steel pole in a recent showcase and I vowed that I would never do another showcase or performance where there would be stainless steel poles. however, some people love different finishes for various reasons. if you have a chance to go to a studio and try out some poles of various finishes you should try to do that. I am a sweaty person so I prefer brass. my next choice would be titanium gold. last I would choose chrome. and stainless steel is not even an option on my list. if I was gonna recommend a particular pole that is probably good for most people I would say the 45mm titanium gold. this is just my opinion. others will agree or disagree. to me, titanium gold is the goldilocks of pole finishes. not too grippy not too slippy. brass is very grippy and can be more painful on your skin. chrome is usually what you will find in most studios and competitions. it is okay but can be a little on the slippery side for me.
As far as size, with your choices being 40,45,50mm. I would choose 45mm. it is the most commonly used. it is comfortable on your legs and small enough to grip with your hands. 40mm is great for tiny hands but it makes gripping with your legs more painful and scarier. I did a layback on a 40 and it was scary. 50mm just sucks, plain and simple. I cant even get my hands around that shit, no way!
these are all my very personal opinions, so there will be others might agree or completely disagree. finding a pole preference is a very individual thing and many factors can go into making this decision. some things to think about are your skin type. are you sweaty, dry, normal? are you allergic to any metals? do you have tiny tiny hands, huge hands, or average? some people also feel that different metals react better to different climates. I see you live in Georgia. you probably have some humidity. that can also be a factor. although I’m not sure which poles are considered to be better for humid climates. you can search on this site and see what others say. however, if the pole is gonna be indoors in a room that very climate controlled with air conditioning or heating then it probably doesnt matter much.
I personally own a 45mm brass and I love it. I would love to have a 45 titanium gold if I didnt have my brass pole because the brass is a bit painful because I stick to it so well. but I’m not gonna complain about being too sticky, it’s great just causes a little more skin pain. I do not have dry skin and I sweat ALOT.

I just purchased a stainless x pole. I switched from my chrome due to a nickel allergy and I am so happy I did.
I do have slippery days and it is best to keep yourself and the pole as warm as possible If you don’t have a reason to go with stainless (allergy etc) I would stay with the chrome.
But FYI. All new poles are a little slippery for a little while
