First of all, installing a pole is always an at your own risk scenario and the best place to contact for support would be X-Pole.

With that in mind… most apartments will tell you not to install poles for one reason or another in order to eliminate their liability. If they helped you install it, or gave you information on how or where, and it does cause damage they can’t assess you for this damage when you move out because of the implied consent caused by their help.

With this in mind as long as the ceiling is standard sheetrock it should have wooden studs/joists and a stud finder should be able to locate them for you or you might even engage a handyman. Most home improvement stores have resources to help you find a handyman if you don’t already know one. Paying a handyman $25 to $50 dollars to help you locate the stud is a very inexpensive way to insure you install it in the correct place which can save you far more in the long run.
