Just wondering if anyone else is pregnant and poling too?

I am 20 weeks and still inverting. I don't do the flag, jade splits and the fan kicks at the moment. Everything else is okay so far. I also don't do any specific ab-work.

It is probably best to try a less strenuous form of exercise. I tend to err on the side of caution.

You should try bellydancing. We had a girl perform in her third trimester (we painted her tummy!) 😉

I believe ab work is ok to do while pregnant ( though very difficult)

You should not do any ab work lying on your back after the first trimester also ab work should be avoided if you have abdominal separation.

After the first trimester I avoided climbs, inverts and learning new moves. I did not have problems with relaxin (hormons) causing my body to be come too loosey goosey so I was still able to perform spins throughout my pregnancy, but modified them to lessen abdominal stress. Spins can  be a problem for some who does have relaxin issues. Women who lift weights/strength train or have been pole dancing for a good while tend to not have relaxin issues, because their strength can help compensate for the "looser" joints. Stick with working on dance and self expression…..always talk with your Dr or midwife about the exercise you choose to do.

    Thanks Veena.

I am 20 weeks and will continue to do this all the way through.I am still inverting and climbing. I am still doing twisted handsprings, but don't stay up too long right now. I am only doing it to maintain the strength there. I don't feel comfy doing ab work b/c I felt oddly sore after I did at 10 weeks. My doctor said I can do anything that I did before. It is harder in the sense that I gain a pound or so every week, so every week brings new challanges.I performed until 12 weeks pregnant and I will be doing one at the end of August too, but will have to take out the jade splits and bending over on the pole to do the twisted ballerina is difficult too. I just modify where necessary and I came down an inch in heels. I am certain at one point I will probably remove heels towards the end, but for now I am great:) For myself, I wouldn't recommend belly dancing over pole because it is too much core ab work involved.I am also a certified teacher in pole so I do feel comfy. Have been poling since '06. I wouldn't recommend a newbie or beginner to continue on like I have. In that case, someone may need to modify and her body may not be as conditioned to it. Good luck to all who are "preggers" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif and just know you don't have to stay off your pole, just modify, unless like Veena said, your doc says no. High risk pregnancies may be a diff.story too

    Just wanted to update:

Stopped doing twisted handspring at 22 weeks, and stopped inverting last week. I still can, but I stopped going to the pole studio and just play at home for now. Being easy on the belly:)
