I’m almost three years into my pole journey, and I’ve had an invert before, lost it, had to relearn it, learned it safer, and now I’m just now getting them pretty consistently, but they’re not exactly pretty yet. Honestly, stick with Veena’s stuff, and do it as consistently as you can. You’ll get there!

There’s good tips in here about bringing extra grip aid. Maybe I’ll have a reason to try the ol’ hairspray on the legs trick, lol.
I don’t feel so bad anymore if I don’t do any paid workshops. From 2016’s list that they’ve got on the site, there’s a ton of stuff in there that I’d have been excited to fill up on. If this year’s schedule is anything like that, I think I’m set. 😀
@LyraPole – when I went to Vegas a couple years ago, we saw Zumanity and it was AMAZING. I’m a sucker in general for Cirque du Soleil, but Zumanity has got to be my favorite thing I did on that trip. And that’s including Thunder from Down Under. 😉
Follow up question, does anyone plan on *not* staying at Hard Rock? I’m trying to keep an eye on hotel deals on the Strip, and I know that’s a little ways from Hard Rock. Has anyone had a good experience with staying somewhere else and using the bus to get to Hard Rock?

“Low flow combos and transitions, including floor work.”
YES PLEASE! I’ve got a small space with an x-stage setup, and it’s tough to get much floorwork practice in without taking the whole thing down. Low flow/basework is a good compromise because it’s *sort of on the floor* but I don’t have to completely dismantle my pole to get the space for it. Bookmarking videos on instagram only gets me so far if I barely understand the beautiful witchcraft they’re doing. 😉
Thanks so much for taking this discussion into consideration!

I’m going to Pole Expo for the first time this year! I’m so excited! Can anyone say whether the trip is still enjoyable if you do zero paid workshops? They look like they have a bunch of free workshops. Plus vendors and all that. 😀

@Goat on a Pole – thanks for this video, that’s so cool! And also makes so much sense after noticing how sturdy the rubber soles were on the shoes I tried on in-store.

I caught the “need to try on shoes” bug this weekend, and got to try some 6″ and 7″ pairs, and between those two I think I’d have to go with the 6″. The 7″ just felt too precarious when I stand on them lol. Does anyone mind talking about why 7″ is popular/standard?

Mark Culp is the only one I know. Though I’d also like to hear if anyone else uses alternativebalance.net and if they’re happy with them.

Anyone who hasn’t watched/listened to the Pole Parlour podcast – do it! Crimson Minxxx interviews polers from all over the sexy-athletic spectrum. I think you’ll find neither is going anywhere. Some of the guests sound like they think there will *have* to be a split between these schools of pole eventually, but that it won’t necessarily be a bad thing. Honestly I’d be more excited about pole being included in the X Games than the Olympics. It sounds like in the X Games we’d be more likely to get to keep our choice to do sexy or brute-strength-athletic. Here’s the Soundcloud link to Pole Parlour! 😀

1. Programs; 2. Routines; 3. Tips. So excited you’re planning a shoulder mount program!!!! Mercy, even just shoulder slides are the bane of my existence some days. 🙁

I’ve been really happy with my X-Stage Lite, because I don’t have to deal with ceiling headaches and even though it’s heavy, it’s more portable than my old pole. Floorwork is kind of a challenge, though.

Took ’em both. 🙂

“Well, that’s just like…your opinion, man.”
“Shut the f*ck up Donnie, you’re out of your element.”
“This aggression will not stand, man!” -

Is there a link to the survey? What’s the non-profit that made it?
