I have been dancing for over 2 years. I have definately met some amazing women. My favorite is a girl who has a "normal" day-time" job but dances some nights solely to support her charity for dogs. How awesome is that?! She is an angel but she is definatly unique. Unfortunately, the majority of the girls that work at my club are not anyone I would want to be friends with nor do they live a life that I would ever envy. In addition, the club can be a toxic atmosphere; if you dont have your head on your shoulders it can hurt you. Having said all that, theres simply too much bad associated with being a stripper and working in strip clubs. i dont want to wonder if ppl associate my job with my lifestyle so i dont bother telling them. It's not a big enough part of my life for me to care to defend the matter. I'd rather tell ppl im a waitress at a mexican resturant in a town far enough away for them to not visit =P
I can say that if I hadnt started dancing I never would have taken-up pole dancing. So, thank goodness i became a stripper? lol, thats a funny thought. but, now my stage performance is more of a pole dance than a seductive strip tease. ive unfortunately learned that the men dont go to the club to spend their money on talent https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif so, it might be cutting into my $ a lil but i just can't not play on the pole if its on front of me and especially if ive got a captive audince lol. I cant wait to compete, to perform for a crowd that really appreciates the art!

BASE- could you explain/describe the stretches that worked for you just once weekly! Thanks 🙂

I too have been striving for the splits for quite some time. Ive been stretching somewhat regularly for about 7-8 months now and I have been seeing improvment but its very slow and steady. I stretch the back of my legs in the shower. The hot water gets the muscles warm and its really benificial to me. However what has helped me the most is my most recent purchace of a foam roller. I highly recommend it! Its benifiting me in ways that simply stretching can not. Plus, Veena has mentioned back and splits lessons coming soon, im so excited!

i bought a short one thinking it would be more convenient but now that im using it i realize a longer one would only help. my short one seems to roll away from me when i get to using it. I figure a longer one would give you more to work with plus you would spend less time adjusting.

Mighty grip- That is definately an awesome product!
I’ve also seen girls use garters so hold strapless shoes on.

Hey girl,
Just wanted to say hello to you too =) Welcome to SV! I live in NW Austin and I love this site. I am able to teach myself the moves and occasionally I go to and Open Practice hour at Brass Ovaries for additional pointers and to perfect the move. It's also great to get and get personal help up there. They put out a groupon in the begening of the year. I believe it was $50 for 5 classes which is a great deal! I'll let ya know if they do it again!

I use rubbing alchohol to clean my pole and I know its hopeless for me to attempt to play on my pole while its cold.
I usually start my pole practice with spins. It helps warm up the pole and you which is a winning combination! I also recommend Dry Hands, it works for me!
Do you have an X-Pole by chance? Thats what I use and now that im thinking back, I remember it being slippery and somewhat impossible when I first got it. Six months later, I dont have that issue much anymore but I wonder if its an improvment of my grip or maybe over that time I took off some mystery layer it had picked up during shipping or something?
Best of Luck =)

I own a 2in stainless steel X-Pert pole and I LOVE IT!!! I live in an apt so it was important to me that the pole not do any damage to the ceiling or floor. I have it pressure mounted and im so happy to say that its never moved while I was playing on it or done anything sketchy. I trust my pole 100%. Also, my boyfriend weighs at least 180 lbs. He AND his friends have had lots of laughs on my pole and its still standing strong. X-pole FTW!

My best bet is that youre simply over-exerting your muscles. The same thing happened to me and I have concluded the answer is to give your muscles a good long break after training them. (which, i know, is easier said than done!) I also recommend Tiger Balm and/or Bio-Freeze, they helped me with the pain. 🙂
