I’ve been teaching about a year and I usually start with a quick warm up and stretch. Next I do the walk and the crawl, and then I move on to basic spins like fireman variations, front hook, back hook, and chair. Then I do some strengthening exercises like pole push ups and pull ups, and oblique and ab work by having them hook one leg as high as they can on the pole and slowly bending back or sideway. Lastly, I have everyone TRY to climb the pole a few times for strength. I keep a notebook with my "syllabus" in it which helped a lot when I was first making it up too! good luck!

Ballet shoes work good, but I have to agree with the foot undeez as being the best, I love them! I use them for my lyrical class and for pole and they come in all different fun colors and patterns

What helped me get the jade was to look and twist to the side and really pull to the side of the leg you are pulling on. Before I finally figured that out I was looking straight up toward my back foot which made me tip over like a little tea pot!

Hehe when I was learning the handspring I had a "genious" idea to get a little bit of a running start (bad idea!) because I was determine to get my but up there. So my bottom hand TOTALLY misses the pole and i flipped foward and kind of landed on my but/neck on the nice hardwood floor (very luck I was not hurt but a soar shoulder the next day). Thankfully no one was home or watching (except my dog), so after I realized I was not broken I had a good laugh about it. Don’t get a running start!!!!!!

It kinda sucks that they only accept so few people to compete when there are so many talented dancers out there. If its the United States pole dance federation, shouldn’t they have a representative from each state?? I dunno i just dont think its fair that out of 50 states 6 people get to go! just a thought… But congrats to the lucky girls that are going!
