Seconds. It doesnt even screw in. You actually just drop it in the slot.

The rest of the stage (the base) takes a bit to set up, but to actually just put the pole in is super easy.

Before I got my stage pole (which I got on craigslist for $350, so there are bargains to be had)… I thought about cementing a pipe in the ground and then having a pole that you would drop in and out of that pipe that you could lock on static or spin. Similar to the way my stage pole attaches to the base. It would have a cap that I could cover it with when not using so it wouldn’t get rain in it… and be low enough that I wouldn’t hit it with the lawn mower. But in my mind it got kind of confusing, and if you added up everything I was thinking… it did get somewhat costly and labor intensive, and then I got the stage pole and I’m happy with that.

Not really sure how freezing would play into it… but I’ve had thing cemented in the ground (like basketball nets) and it’s never been an issue here in NJ.

I just wanted to update in case anyone else was curious or wanted to do something similar in their area:

I realized if you want a certain type of community sometimes you need to build it yourself. I think thats what Veena realized when she built this website! I think thats what my instructor realized when she planned to open her studio….

You can’t wait for others to create fun events, you need to create them yourself…

So today I’m pulling my stage pole out and meeting like 3 other girls for a “Pole in the Park” jam… and next month we are planning a “Sunday Bumday Beachday” of stretching and acro’ing around on the beach (5 Yes RSVPs so far) . I’ve also shared some open to the public events like the “Yoga in the Garden” events that are held each month… and one member was kind enough to share the Dakota Fox workshop at her studio with the group.

Hoping that this will snowball into something great 🙂

Yes! Here was a side angle,., (I told you I shot it from a bunch of angles) but then I looked again at the demo pic and I felt like she was more compact and less upright… While I was pressing and trying to lengthen my spine the demo pic looked more rounded… So then I tried to do it more like that. Anyway… Now I’m just venting about not having demos which is silly because it’s a voluntary free challenge that I’m actually enjoying. Haha

I feel as though I was most actively engaged in the 1st picture but after browsing photos I felt like I should have been sitting more. Ugh. Yeah, I’ll probably go back to the kino/beachyoga challenges after this one 😛

I’ll keep at this posture too. Thank you for the advice.

I have to say I def had that force between my elbows and knees happening…love hip openers! But I’m not sure I did engage my core enough after all.

I’m pigeon toed and it’s very difficult for me to turn my feet out and I think I was really struggling there… And forgetting to really breathe and engage.

Thanks Lucca, I’ll see if I can grab a pic later!

I am enjoying the challenge but it’s not like the yoga challenges I’m used to with names of poses and instructions and demos. I’m judging the alignment of the pose from a tiny picture on the challenge art and what others who are doing the challenge have done….

It’s difficult and a few of the pics show different posture than the typical yoga postures I’m used to. (Like bending from the hips, or opening the chest, etc)

I’m confused about why its not stable… I used to have an X-pole sport and you just need to pressure mount it over a beam like in the instructions. You shouldn’t need to build anything. It’s really stable because you don’t have to worry as much about over-tightening since it doesn’t need to spin.

In Lambertville, NJ… There are 2 workshops a spinny pole and a trick workshop. I’ve never been to that studio before, but it’s not far from me. I’m doing the spinny one because I almost never spin and I would like to. My first Xpole was static only so I just never practiced it (but I’ve had a spin pole for like a year, so I really shouldn’t be using that as an excuse)

Anyway, enough babbling… I’ll send you an invite to the workshop 🙂

Nice! I just saw the fireworks out by long branch on the 4th. I’m near Princeton.

Shoot me a private message with your name and I can add you to the FB group.

The group is just in it’s infancy but we have some good events on the calendar including a pole jam on Friday. And someone shared a Dakota Fox workshop on the 20th that I’m going to. I’ll be adding more fun things as soon as I can. Feel free to add events too. 🙂

HilaryKate AKA LolaSlaytor shared this cool Carlie Hunter Crucifix to Shoulder Dismount with me…

Veena, I feel like you *may* have done a very similar lesson but I can’t find it… If not that might be a fun one to break down…

But I just favorited and added a few other quick lessons to my to-do list, so no pressure… I have PLENTY to work on!

Well, after some searching I found this video! https://www.studioveena.com/videos/view/52b2279c-edb4-4fbe-a14d-78390a9aa0eb

Leyrose removes the opposite hand which puts you in SG vs TG. 🙂

I usually don’t think things through enough and end up just hopping around on the pink triangles on my base 😛
I feel like you and I have similar grip chemistry and sweat patterns. I have to say I super love the stainless. They don’t make a stainless? Every now and again I towel off my torso but that’s it… And it’s fine.

Brass is very grippy. My biggest issue was the pole burn on my shoulder from shoulder mounts… Ouch! Anyway I think either way with a 40mm chrome or 45 brass your thighs will be crying in superman :P.

I’m not a brass fan myself. It’s just too grippy for me, but I suppose if you use it enough you’d get used to it. Also the black parts of the base of my PS pole gets really hot in the sun!! Wayyyyy more than the pole.
