Thanks BonnieAndClyde Thats such a great way to look at it. So sweet. 🙂
I have a Kinect, but its in my family room and my pole is set up in my spare bedroom… But if I end up ever moving it downstairs or getting a stage I’ll be up for some Kinect’ing 🙂

No advice here… But I missed you around here! Sounds like you’re on the mend though. Hope to be seeing more of you.

I’m happy to skype sometime and inspire each other… Sounds fun!
I also have Veena’s lessons… I honestly can’t speak highly enough of them in terms of my progression. It’s really easy to go between lessons and move on to other related moves. 🙂
She is like my skype buddy and she doesn’t even know it (though she does wave to me in every video, hehe) -
I’d be up for that for sure, but I think you guys are probably miles (and levels) ahead of me. But I’m up for anything!

Thanks CJ… Though at this point maybe I should move to Orlando! The weather is certainly better. And honestly, the best mani pedi I ever had was at the Ritz in Orlando! 🙂
I am really happy I have SV. This place and the lessons are priceless. I do want a “Pole Buddy” nearby but I’m also happy to have pole buddies a all over the world.

I know exactly how you guys feel… Not just with pole friends… In general really.
I basically lost touch with most people while I was in dental school in NYC… 4 years of extreme studying and pressure. Most people moved away and got married etc. So now I’m back in NJ with very little to do with my spare time. I have a wonderful husband and a kid but I still need girlfriends, ya know? My dental school friends rocked.. but they all dispersed after school too. We still keep in touch and meet up, it’s just difficult. Sometimes you just need someone you can call to come over for a bit and grab a mani pedi with!
Most people here are much older. It’s an expensive area with very little to do in terms of a social scene, so that’s understandable. But it’s where my husband grew up, 20 min from where I grew up, and where we want to raise our son.
Actually that feeling lead me to pole! It was a cross between “I need a hobby” and “I need to get out and make friends”
That’s why I decided to try pole a few months ago. Closest 45+ min away. It’s actually a home studio with 2 poles. Well, I fell in love with pole. But so far I have had zero luck with pole friends. Usually it’s just me in class (which I do love). It’s crazy how NJ is so populated but the pole community seems existent!
I actually joined MeetUp.com and joined some girls social clubs… and went to a few happy hours. The events are usually centered on eating fried food and drinking beer AND ALL I WANT TO DO IS POLE. I’ve also been comparing everyone to my NYC friends which just isn’t fair… I need to let that go a little.
Soooo I actually am hosting my own MeetUp at the place I pole this Friday!!!!. But because there are only 2 poles there it can only be me +3. So far it’s just been a huge headache because girls sign up then don’t pay and become unresponsive…. And there is a wait list, so if you’re just going to hold a spot and cancel last min it’s not fair! Plus the instructor worked out her rate for 4 people… Not 2 or 3. I learned lessons on how to organize it better next time so they pay first. But I was just testing the waters to see in there was interest…. And there is.
It’s just going to be a beginner/intro workshop so I might be a little bored but these girls are from my area so maybe one will fall in love. Buy a pole… And we can practice together!
I’m sneaky, huh?

No problem!
And happy birthday! I always tend to feel really old and sluggish around my birthday. But thankfully it always passes.

I agree with runemist34… When I’m busy I have more energy (in general, I still love a good nap ever now and again)….
But unlike runemist34 when I’m not active allllll I do is eat… And eat unhealthy… Which sends me into a food coma. :/ That’s just me though.

Further up in this thread the rep said “New product will be rolling out May 1st!”
Maybe that was just optimistic… I’m just curious to see whats new!
-
On to the original topic… It’s after may 1st!
Any one else been checking to see what X-pole is rolling out? 🙂 I’m impatient!!!

I’m in NJ… but I’ve also heard great things about Body and Pole. I’m planning to check it out one day.

I think I’m fairly slow to progress, but I started very weak and stiff and out of shape. I definitely had no background that would help in pole… But I love pole and even slow progress is progress.
I have no great inspirational story, but check back with me in a year… Hehe!

It does seen like a disaster waiting to happen!
What about when you non-studio owners have girlfriends over to pole? Do you guys ever have wine or anything? It doesn’t seem like a great idea, but I kind of like the idea of grabbing a glass of wine and stretching… Even though I haven’t done it.

I know there are people who have purchased new A pole and B pole for their existing poles to get a new finish…. I wonder if a 45mm and 50mm x-pole have the same mechanisms and can both use the same dome and base. You’d probably need new x-joints though.
I’m not sure if its possible, or if it would even save you any money, but its worth looking into. I’m sure one of the girls here knows more than me.

I don’t think the knocking method is really “dangerous” if thats what you’re used to doing….
Finding studs can be a hard task. I have an old (“charming”, hehe) home plaster walls… and studfinders are useless, and so is knocking. Usually there are clues we use to locate studs. We usually can figure it out from some nail pops, or going into crawl spaces or looking in the laundry shoot (oh, old homes) then measuring..
But that really goes for anything. We had to use the same methods when mounting tvs or shelving.
It’s like we always say you need to know your body in pole… you kind of need to know your house.
