I know its prob too far for everyone but my studio in Dorking has THIRTEEN (yes 13) 4 meter poles (yes (13ft!) Im pretty sure hiring it for a few hours would be no problem as its allready got a £5 gowhenever you like policy.
Heres the link: http://www.thepolestudio.co.uk/dorking.html
But obviously I get that its pretty far, I travel 30mins to get there because the closer studio they have just opened just doesnt live up to it!!
Anyway thought I would put it on the table =) xx

Like you I was sure I could do it basically straight away, I started classes and I waited. My instructor taught me how to invert after about 4-6 weeks but only because my upper and lower body strength was already pretty advanced from playing ice hockey and doing ballet. The other girls in my group didnt start until they were in their level 2.
Im glad I didnt jump straight into it by myself now I can see how easy it would be to injure yourself. Also I feel because I could invert quite early and started learning tricks etc I kinda missed out on getting some of the basic spins and that looking really good so now Im having to really work on them.
I would say spend some time doing some basics and strength excersies for a while and whne you feel you could give it ago get a second view from an instructor or post a video on here and see what they think.

It would be best if you had somewhere to lie it down when it’s not up, otherwise you might find actually putting it together each time will maybe put you off going for a practice session 🙂 it would me anyway! Lol but not everyone as lazy as me!!

They are okay but they are kinda heavy and if you want to dismantle it after each session undoing the joints is a bit tedious and also making sure the pole is level each time! If you don’t have a magnetic spirit level get one!
I’ve left mine in the middle of the living room my 10month old like its lol and my partner bless him hasn’t complained once about it being in the way of the tv -
Can you gain access to the loft space to see where the beams are? You can use a stud finder just make sure its one that locates the wood and not metal cables etc. best to ask the people in the shop. I made a few small holes in my ceiling to make sure I got it which I’m guna have to fill in as I’m in rented too! Good luck!

I use alot of veenas stretching lessons, I know alot of them by heart now. I normally add stretching to the end of a practice session. This was because I too hated it so i trurned it into a kindo of mandatory part of my sessions!!
Now I actually like it and just have stretching sessions once ive got my baby in bed/nap. I think its just a mental barrier youve gotta push through. Try just mixing up your resources! Hopefully you start to enjoy it too =)

I recently asked Veena this question and this is the low down of what she said to me:
If you have never poled before then now isn't the best time to start, or if your super new to poling. 🙂
First trimester: nothing much changes but you shouldn't learn anything too tricky, stay with things you know. Your body will start to produce "relaxin" and some women find that their joints become uncomfortably loose, so spins are not advisable if that is a problem for you. I didn't have a problem with it.
Second trimester: no more inverts, my mid wife said it was ok but I stopped once I started to show.
Third trimester: I kept is simple and worked on flow and transitions, with a focus on pretty hands and feet. I did a few modified spins where I kept my legs lower instead of lifting my knees to my chest. This kept pressure off the abs.
I found out a few weeks ago I was pregnant with my 2nd! My daughter is only 9months! I have mixed feelings, Very excited but bit sad about pole and losing my body again lol
Congrats if your expecting! =)

At the moment I only pole at a studio class once a week for an hour in the evening leaving my 8month small with my husband to be and sometimes I can get in a practice at the weekend for a few hours!
When I get my own pole at home im planning on nap times and evenings? Hope it works out and I dont lose my motivation! I think about pole like everyday and thursday evening is pretty much my only ME time!
Im hoping to compete soon and might look into instructor training in the future! Watching Veenas lessons is very inspirational and good for picking up teaching tips!! She so fantastic right?! =D
