Sosagely, I saw you needed a webcam. I have two available. My hubby and I both got new computers with built in cams, so I don’t have a need for them anymore. They are Logitech Quickcams and they clip onto your computer.

I’ve owned both x-pole chrome and just bought a platinum stages extreme stainless steel. I had an issue with my extension piece not screwing together correctly with another piece. When I called customer service last week, they didn’t even ask ONE single question!!! They immediately told me they were shipping me a new piece! I couldn’t believe it, I was all prepared to support my claim with pictures, video, and so forth, but they didn’t ask for it. I love the stainless finish, it is so easy to clean and my both just slithers around the pole when I do spins – no pole burn!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/alien.gif I ordered it from the platinum stages store on ebay, so I got it for 300 plus 50 shipping.
I contemplated getting the new x-pert, but I’ve just read too many negatives about the joint.

It’s a pretty decent video, not of the highest quality (you can see the camera man in the mirror), but I felt it was worth the $. She covers her signature tricks and I found that all but 4 were extemely difficult for me because my body holds me back. She has extreme hip flexor stength and superior hip and hamstring flexibility. I don’t feel that her explanations are going to help you get her tricks, it’s going to be the ability of your body to allow you to do her tricks. Do these 2 tests.
1. Sit on the floor in front of your pole with your back to it. Open your legs into a wide V. Now lift your legs up – keep them straight – and see if they will go close to or past your ears. Can you do it?? Congrats, now you can do JK’s "one-handed flying" spins!!!
2. Face your pole and grip it with hands in front of your chest. Now lift your right leg up and place it on the pole toward the ceiling – in a full on center split. If you can do that, then you can do her "spinning front splits" and "straddle split mount".
I guess what I’m saying is that the video itself it not going to teach you how to do her tricks if you can’t physically get your body to play along. Her instruction isn’t the magic trick. I have every pole video under the sun, and this one is my most frustrating because I can’t do everything on it.
She teaches the pretzel but calls it the ‘gazelle’. I can do that one!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif She also teaches a cool spin – a crouch into a scorpio. I can do that one too!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_joker.gif Then she teaches a handspring – got that! She also does a front hook spin to a back hook spin – piece of cake!!! Shoulder mount – easy.
So there is some easy stuff on there and some really difficult stuff too. Hope this helped!

Hi from Baltimore, Maryland! Welcome to the site! I visited Australia for month back in college and I have a fondness for Australians! Veena’s lessons are great! Get on that pole!!

Hey Klarity, When I was teaching my level 1 class for beginners, I taught preps for spins. In my preps, students would have one foot on the ground at all times. We did a lot of dance and transitions, floor work, and strength work. I agree with Veena on her method. Too much careless instruction and too many injuries. Take it slow girl and treat your body right. You are building a strong foundation.

Hey Klarity, I forgot to add that you could work on shoulder strengthening. Veena has lessons I think, so check them out. Otherwise, here is a great video Fleur made:

I’d let it heal. Little injuries can turn into bigger ones. Pay attention to your pain and respect that it’s a signal from your body to take it easy. When I had tendonitis in my forearm, I avoided handsprings, spins, and inverts and focused on my floor work and sensual dance movement around the pole. There is a lot you can do without straining your shoulder. Good luck!

Is it 10 pm central time??

For me, it’s not just my head, it’s my neck and shoulders! It’s really bad for me. I thought it was because of my age. I call it ‘Tomato Head’. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_spiderman.gif

I totally agree with Kandi that stretching is vital. Tight muscles are more prone to injury. Along with my tendonitis (I’ve received 2 cortisone shots 6 months apart) I have pretty intense tightness and at times it feels like my forearms are so ‘full’ and they are uncomfortable. I’ve incorporated forearm stretches into my workout. So helpful!!

Man, what’s with all the issues with the xpert!!! I was going to get one but I’ve definitely been holding off b/c of this. I sold my old one so that I could try out the new xpert and now I want it back!!
Sorry bout all this Cinnamon, but you’ll be fine with Sally Ann. I did a pole jam with her a year ago and she’s great. She’s got a killer spin she calls the Angel which is basically a no handed corkscrew! Ask her to demo it, it’s awesome! Anyway, she works with all levels and makes you feel comfortable. I always take notes at workshops so I remember everything for the next time I’m able to get on a pole.

I’ll be heading down either fri or sat, haven’t decided on Fri yet because I don’t have a room and I have an 1.5 hour drive from Northern Baltimore. At any rate, I’ll be there all day Sat and through Sun. Can’t wait to see/meet everyone! I might be plugging my teacher certification workshop if I can get my brochure nice and perdy!
PS- Angel is my real name, so it’s not that different from my tag.

Kasanya, that sucks so hard!! I’m happy you got your money back. I must have been lucky because I ordered and recieved the vid some time back. I think there was a delay, but I got it eventually. I wonder what happened to her? Thats so wierd!! Maybe I should sell you my copy….let me know if you are interested.
Joni, Bobbi’s DVD’s are expensive, but the exchange rate brings it down a little, I think to around $35. I have all her DVDs and they are invaluable. I’ve learned a lot from them, especially spinner techniques as there really isn’t a US dvd available that teaches spinny. I treat myself once a year on my birthday to her Miss Pole Dance Austrailia DVDs which come to about 50 with shipping included. OMG they are GREAT!!! I suggested to Sissy Buns that she reach out to Bobbi and get a distribution thing going for her houseofpole website. She said she was gonna….haven’t heard any news yet, but maybe if she gets it going, the dvds will be more affordable.
