I was just so happy that it said that ANYONE can gain flexibility in the spine with practice. I am definitely a front bender and need to work on my backbends. I didn’t want to hurt myself so I didn’t work on backbends much. Off I go to the pole vault to stretch!!!

I was 36 when I started. Luckily I was already in great condition from 20 years of consistant exercise. I just turned 39 and I have no intentions of ‘retiring’ any time soon!

Symphony Space is at 2537 Broadway at 95th – upper west side just off central park. There is a very close hotel http://www.marrakechhotelnyc.com/index.asp that looks great. Their address is 2688 Broadway, so it’s probably a block or two away from the theater. They have a ‘double double’ for $200 a night on March 19th which can sleep 4 (50/person). They also have a tab for group rates. Anyone want to call and hash out a group rate?? (212) 222-2954

Well the pole jam went down yesterday and I have to say that this morning I am still glowing, bruised and sore, but glowing none-the-less!! We had such a wonderful time that I was sorry when it ended! SV ladies (and JC) are the BEST!!! Sissy was the first to show and man, what a lovely person insided and out!!! And those legs, Yowza!! Best of luck girl with the surgery this week, I’ll be praying for ya! After Sissy came, my two non-Veena friends showed, Italy and Val. Next to arrive was Jungle Cat and Guccigirl who drove up from DC. MDpoledancer arrived and so did the beautiful Amcut. We all sat around and stared at our watches (kidding https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif waiting for Punkrockgirlie and Azriel who held up the party by getting stuck in traffic. JC came with his hoop and Sissy and Guccigirl showed off their hooping skills. Finally we got to polin and laughin and goofin and filmin and eatin and drinking – SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!! I think everyone accomplished a new move, including me with the U-turn. We all got a kick out of JC and his cute underpants (manties) that had a strategically placed red bow! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif JC, one piece of advice, get a cup dude, we want you to have kids someday!! LOL. It was so great to finally meet the lovely Azriel !! Az, you are a talented dancer – you are going to inspire so many ladies in Greece when you open your studio!! I sincerely hope I can come visit you over the summer!

I just want to thank each and every one of you for filling my pole room with such good vibes and memories!! I miss you already! And Veena, I want to thank you for creating this site that brought us all together! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif Looking forward to the next time!!!

Hey anais! Love her work by the way. If you are in columbia, the best place to go is Xpose in Arundel Mills. Great teachers there! You could also go down to DC to Pole Pressure. Jessalyn is a fab instructor and dancer. One of the best in the country. There is also Chic Physique in Bethesda. I hear it’s a really cute place! Welcome to the studio veena!!

OK girls (and JC) we’re still on for this pole jam. I’m recovering from a yucky cold, but I still think I can bust a move or three!! Just so you know, my pole room is in my basement which isn’t so pretty (concrete floor and walls), but my pole room is great! Also, I have a pack of yappy dachshunds that go crazy when people come over. After they sniff your legs they get over it and just want to lick you and get belly rubs.

I have three poles up plus room for one more if anyone wants to bring a portable. I have 13 confirmed pple on Facebook! Crap, I seriously hope we fit!!!!!!!!!!

The last pole jam I had, I baked brownies and cookies and no one ate A THING except punkrockgirlie who ate a brownie b/c she felt bad that I felt bad that no one ate anything. Did that make sense??!! This time, I’m not going through the effort but I do have bottled water and some soda.

If you have any questions, shoot me an email at mailto:abaranyi@yahoo.com or send me a message here and I can give you my phone number.

I took a workshop with Jenyne a few months ago and if I remember correctly she called this a twisted ballerina.

Tina, that’d be great if you posted event info here. I was happy to see that she is coming up this way & I won’t have to drive all the way down to charlottsville to dance with her! Plus I get to see your studio!

Hi Tina, I was just on your site. I see you are having Tequila do a workshop!! I’m interested, but it doesn’t seem to be listed on mindbodyonline. Also, what level is it and what is the cost?

Hey, I’m up in Abingdon, near Bel Air. I used to work at Tease Fitness – not sure if you’ve heard of it. I love checking out other pole studios. You have chic physique, right?

I just got the Dara Torres resistance stretching DVD and I have to say I am very impressed with it. It is professionally produced and the names of the muscles are discussed frequently during the descriptions. It is easier to follow than the Bob Cooley DVD and more instruction is given so that you can execute the stretch correctly. It even has a chapter for tight hamstrings. I got a used copy off Amazon for $16 with free shipping. It also came with a bonus DVD called ‘training with Dara Torres’. Here is a link to the website: http://www.innovativebodysolutions.com/

Veronika, there is a pole grooves and an advanced pole grooves. Ultimatum is the next one up and is more advanced and specialized in that it has a ton of pole split varieties, handsprings, and doubles work.
