Karol, I’m amazed at the level of difficulty of the moves you did on the spinner. It was all beautiful from start to finish. I’m so happy I had a chance to see the original!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I just have to ask though, who is the dude in the background in the tubesocks??

Sissy, Pam at http://www.teasefitnessandapparel.com/gpage2.html said she wants you guys to call her for info about the party. 16 spin/non spin brass poles. Arundel Mills doesn’t have spinners. Her # is 410-382-1735. This is a ways from DC though. At least an hour and fifteen minutes.

MemberOctober 13, 2009 at 7:49 pm in reply to: Thought this might be helpful to some of youI saw this video a while ago and recently visited my chiro for some tissue release work in my forearm. I explained the content of the video b/c I was worried that I shouldn’t be doing twisted grip. I also showed him videos of TG. He told me that bone never touches bone in the forearm unless there is an outside force squeezing them together. He said the reason I got hurt was b/c I did TG without warming up plus I had done it too many times in a row earlier that day which wore out the muscle. So an overworked muscle plus no warmup = injury. He also said anytime tissue or muscle is elongated ie;twisted, is it weaker than when it is in it’s contracted state. You need to be stronger in the working muscle groups than what the particular move requires. Don’t repeat the move over and over. Only do weight bearing activities after a 10 minute warmup.
Bottom line, only do intense moves only when you are strong enough, warm enough, and fresh!!

Hi Sabrina, I was just at Pole Pressure yesterday on 14th St. in DC yesterday hanging out with Jessalyn Mediary. She just opened a few months ago and she is a fantastic teacher. You might want to check out her studio. http://www.polepressure.com/index.html A bunch of us just watched her compete last Sunday and she earned ‘pro status’, so you’d be in good hands with her.
Welcome to the site!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

MemberOctober 10, 2009 at 2:10 pm in reply to: Clips from J.C.’s 1st Real Lesson w/ JessalynnJC, Don’t feel bad. I was celebate for 5 yrs in my 20s and only got married a few yrs ago at 35. Being celebate and not dating is a very healthy was to get to know yourself and grow internally. It also makes you appreciate it when you find real love! Any therapist worth their salt is going to recommend a period of being single so you learn how to function on your own and you really get to know yourself!
Love will come! Just you wait!!! I promise, God has someone good in store for you!

Hi Poledance Romance https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
It sounds like you have an injury that needs to heal. Maybe a grade 1 or 2 muscle strain (tear). YOu might want to see a chiro that does active release technique http://www.activerelease.com/what_patients.aspI injured my arm doing a twisted grip handspring cold. This was after a morning session of repeatedly doing it. My muscle was not only weak, but not warmed up. Bad idea!!! The pain set in after a day or two and was pretty severe for the first 2 weeks. Now, my forearm and elbow hurt esp. in the morning. I’m a month out and my chiro says it will take another month before it’s fully healed as long as I don’t put too much weight on it, ice it 2 times a day for 15 minutes each, and go in for treatments.
You may need to build up strength, you may need to do fewer repetitions (maybe this is a repetitive strain injury), or maybe your technique is incorrect (doesn’t sound like it). Did you do a bunch of reps in a row? Do you always warm up atleast 8-10 minutes before weight-bearing activity?? I don’t take my girls off their feet on the pole until we warm up to atleast 2 songs.
I’d let it rest. Heal time takes generally 6-8 weeks! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_compress.gif

Hey Karol, Just talked to Pam. She said she is open to ideas and that she’ll call you tonight to brainstorm. I hope it all works out!! I just can’t wait to hear what’s going to happen!!
Because of our location, we should be able to pull girls from PA, DC, MD, DE & VA! And we know Sissy will be there!!! Hopefully this will be a sell-out for you and you make lots of hard earned cash!!

Hey sissy! I went to the comp last year and would love to go again next year to cheer you on!!! YOu should have let me know you wanted that DVD, I have it and could’ve given you a copy. I have a ton of vids, so if you want any let me know. If you ever want to come over to dance or practice, just give me a shout!! I’m always too scared to perform so I could live vicariously through you!

You guys could both stay at my house if you wanted. I have two extra bedrooms and 3 poles in my little pole studio!! I live about 3 minutes from Tease. Sissy, I mapquested Odenton and it’s about 40 miles or 50 min from Tease. But, I’m getting ahead of myself!! Let’s get this thing planned first!
Karol, you may have to give Pam suggestions about what exactly you want to do. She’s never had a pole jam or any sort of workshop in the two years that I’ve been there. From what I’ve heard, "beginner" classes never sell well with pro dancers b/c the newbies are too intimidated and/or they have no idea who the pros are! I know that the Jenyne Butterfly beginner class this weekend in Philly is a long way from being full, but the intermed/adv is sold out (I’m going, yay!).
I did do a 4 hour workshop at Xpose with Sally Ann Giles and it went well but I didn’t get any one-on-one time with Sally. There were 40 girls there and we paid 45 each and that included a small lunch. We shared poles with one other girl. She taught us two advanced spins, but she was spread VERY thin as there was one of her and 40 of us! After that we ate and after lunch she divided the room into 3 parts – beginner, interm, and advanced. She gave us advanced girls photos of moves and we tried them out and tried to help eachother into them. I don’t know if you would want to do that sort of format but I thought I’d share that experience to give you something to go off of.
Personally, I would prefer separate workshops with smaller class size divided by levels. I’d rather pay more but get more instructor time.
Oh, and I do have one video uploaded here that was filmed in the studio so you can see it. There are 16 poles and they all have spinning option.
OK, can’t wait for this all to unfold!!! Pam better call you ASAP!!!

http://teasefitnessandapparel.com/ She said something about Dec though, probably to give pple enough time to find out about it and sign up. Hope you consider it!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gifAngel

Karol, it was such a pleasure watching you dance this weekend. Your moves are so fluid and graceful, you legs are sooooooo freakin long, and you look like you were born to rock the pole! I’ve so appreciated your youtube vids and how helpful you are in sharing moves with everyone (superman drop tutorial was awesome). You are a beautiful inspiration and I wish you a long, long future of success in the industry. If you ever travel to teach workshops, I could talk to my boss at http://teasefitnessandapparel.com/ to see if we could get something set up. The studio is about 25 min North of Baltimore straight up 95.
You know, this whole weekend was so special, meeting up with all these great girls from StudioVeena (Carrie, Sissy, Roxy), watching the show, looking at the audience filled with fans of all ages, taking workshops, watching you win…it was all so f-ing great!!!. I long for the day when pole dancing is accepted as a legitimate sport and form of dance. In some odd way, your victory was such a triumph for all of us who love to dance. Thanks so much for taking things further, inventing moves, and sharing your skill. Keep it up & CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Unfortunately, where I was sitting (up front) they were VERY strict about filming and/or taking pictures. I was very dissapointed that I couldn’t break out my little HD camcorder which I had charged up and ready to go. The ushers were watching us like hawks. Maybe someone somewhere in the theater was able to sneak thier filming, but not that I could see.
Jenyne’s performance was utterly mindblowing. If any of you ever get a chance to see her, do yourself a favor and go. I’ve seen lots and lots of videos and performances and the quality of her dancing was untouchable. There is little wonder why she is #2 in the world. She is out of this world.

Hopefully I’m still functional after Alethia and Sarah’s workshops!!! Angel https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/alien.gif
