MemberSeptember 15, 2009 at 8:41 pm in reply to: Clips From Jungle Cat’s First Time In a StudioHey JC! So glad all this is happening for you! I knew you’d love her, but I never knew you’d end up with a job offer! Man, that’s awesome!!! Listen, don’t worry. You are going to be fine. Becoming a teacher forces you to become better! YOu have no choice, right? Sink or swim. I started teaching the upper level classes at my studio after only 6 months of dancing! No prior history, just really strong upper body and formal classroom teaching experience. I started buying DVDs, took ACE group fitness course and got certified. I also took pole position fitness instructor training, which was so valuable for my teaching. I’ll help you through if want. And certainly, Jess will help you through. Of all the different pole teachers I’ve had, I’m most impressed with her. She’ll train you and no doubt she wouldn’t hire you unless she knew you were a good thing!! So rock on! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

Isabella, that is so great of you to share. I feel like all us pole dancers are venturing into unknown territory as far as injuries go. I wish I could get a O.T. or P.T. to come into class and say no, not that way, this way. I wish what you wrote isn’t true, but I guess I have to respect that and start changing or eliminating some of the things I do in class.

There is a lot of info on here about forearm pain and bracket grips, but what about forearm pain from doing aysha, cartwheel mount, or handspring mount, or twisted grip mount. There is a lot of pressure on that lower arm that really can’t be avoided. Does anyone have any advise on that subject?

OK, finally found the solution. If I don’t press the ‘add the file’ button and instead just press preview, it attaches.

Hmm. Just checked and they are jpegs. I can upload profile pics no prob. I’m trying to use the tab at the bottom of the page where it says ‘upload attachment’. I guess it would put a pic inside the body of a post. I think I’ll write to veena’s hubby the webmaster. Thanks for your response though! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif

I don’t care if I have to wait, just want to be sure it comes at all.

I was trying to upload to this site. Is it jpeg only for studioveena? Anyone know?

Roxy – I agree. Waay to much. I took a YogaFit level I instructor training recently and it cost $280 for a Saturday AND Sunday workshop. 8-6 both days!!

I did pole position too. I took the class in Long Island at a studio that requires all their dancers to be pole position certified before they teach. It was an 8 hour course and the safety info was great. They broke down moves into 5 ‘foundation’ movements like inside planted leg, outside planted leg & blind hand grab. This helped me a ton for teaching some of my level I students who don’t have the upper body strength. I also earned continuing ed credits for my ACE group fitness cert. The fee is the going rate in the fitness industry for a continuing ed. class (around $300) and I personally feel that charging more than that is a rip-off. I had a friend who took a cert. class in Miami for over $1,500 for a weekend course. I think that is waaaay too much. Anyway, most pole places don’t require certification. I’m the only one at my studio with it and the owner could give two shits……

MemberSeptember 9, 2009 at 7:21 pm in reply to: ForSale:Costumes, shoes, booty shorts, skirts, fish netsMelania, To answer your question, I’d say they are shaped a little different. What I call booty shorts are a bit more square. The red pair I call booty shorts are more angled around the thigh like a bikini plus they are bright red – so I called them hot pants…. I’d take $4 for the star, rainbow, and vic. secret booty shorts, $2 for the red ‘hot pants’, $10 for the brand new Balera shorts, and $25 for the Skivvies. The skivvies are $30 brand new plus $8 for shipping – so I paid close to $40 and never wore them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
Any shipping for any of the small clothing pieces would only be 2-3 bucks total b/c they are so light. Let me know if you are interested! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’ve seen you’re part 1 before. Let me just say that the music plus your footwork and white leg warmers with those cute little white balls on em just kill me…. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_shaking.gif in a good way of course I LOVE IT!! One of my fav dance vids EVER!!

Yeah, I got some low stars and it hurt. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif But I love giving stars b/c they represent encouragement. In my opinion everyone deserves good stars because everyone here is trying so damn hard at something that is really damn hard to do! Everyone deserves 5 stars for not being lazy and everyone deserves it for showing that ALL women’s bodies are beautiful!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_colors.gif Maybe just give people the option to get stars or not…..
