I am a fan of resistance stretching. I haven't watched Veena's stretch vids, so I can't speak on whether she uses resistance stretching or not. However she does her homework and really understands the body, so I have no doubt they are wonderful.
If you are looking for strech dvds, this is one of the best stretching dvds I have. It's very professionally done and is backed up scientifically. You get two dvds, one that explains the 17 stretches and the other has the 20 minute 'workout'.

They recommend 48 hours in between sessions. You'd probably be fine doing it 3x/week.
One of the dvds recommended in this thread have ballistic stretches in it and that type of stretching concerns me. Ballistic stretching can cause injury especially in previously injured areas. Camera angles also make it hard to see everything. The other dvd recommended in this thread has some unsafe knee positions.
PS, I never did splits as a child, but I can do them fairly well now once I'm nice and warm.

I’ve seen the pole box. My friend got them for free from someone affiliated with them. They look like real pics in that the backs have small print on them like ‘kodak’ but the words say something different. I forget what. Anyway, there are a lot of cards! The names of some of the moves were surprising to me. I’d like to have it but it costs as much as a pole which to me doesn’t make sense. But I figure it takes a lot of money to make if they are real prints. There isn’t any info other than the name and stars for difficulty. The PDA cards are a good buy. I have the new deck which has 75 more cards than the previous version.

I had the Mirena in for about 4 years. I don't remember cramping initially or any issues during the first few days. I do remember that it hurt pretty bad going in and I thought I was going to pass out and they got out the smelling salts. LOL. I do remember having very light periods that were fairly irregular. The doc who put it in (I was his first) was old and close to retiring and he cut the strings too short and they went inside the uterus. I had the same issue as Jelli in that it was 'lost' so I was sent for a sonogram and luckily it was right where it was supposed to be and nothing was perforated. I had to undergo anesthesia and 'surgery' to have it removed years later, but it was real quick and I had no issues afterwards. So sensual, I'm glad you can feel your strings! So sorry to hear about the issue you had Jelli!

Hi Kellie, I feel your pain. I had the same issue and it was a long journey to heal. First I had a doc give cortisone shots. I had 2 shots about 6 months apart. When the second shot wore off a year later, I still had bad pain, especially in the morning. The same doc then sent me for an mri and we discovered I had a 50% tear, so surgery was recommended. I went to a different practice for a second opinion and the doc there (one of the top hand docs in Baltimore) said he would not recommend surgery since the healing time from surgery is about the same time it takes for tendonitis to heal. Instead, he gave me an 'autologous blood tranfer' which simply meant he drew my blood and immediately injected it into the injury. I did this 3 times about a month apart and now I'm totally healed!! I highly recommend it if you can find a doc to do it. My insurance covered it so it was free for me. It's closed related to PRP (platelet rich protein) injections that a lot of top athletes are doing. The difference was I didn't have my blood spun in a centrifuge to isolate the platelets. Plus PRP would have cost me $500 for each treatment since my insurance wouldn't cover it.

Congrats to you! I went through the same thing. A few years ago, I left my position teaching pole, chair and yoga and also left my dear students and friends at the studio. It left a big hole in my life, but I had no idea at the time that I'd wind up writing a teacher training course, starting my own business and meeting all sorts of new and wonderful pole ladies!
Now, two years later, that studio went under and my friend Keirsten is opening up a new studio right down the street! I'm going to have a pole home again! Kobajo is right, when one door closes another opens.

MemberNovember 10, 2011 at 7:27 pm in reply to: International Pole Convention In LA June 22-24Hi Erica, you guys had a promotion at the DC convention for wearing a PS t-shirt. I got 50% off for sending in a pic of me in the shirt at the convention. I didn't buy anything at the time b/c I was waiting for the some pole update you were having (I forget what it was) and the discount expired. Anyway, anything like that would be really exciting to have. I'd love to get a 4th pole and I'd love it to be the new stage.

Yep! I work full time in a public school! I love it, but it's not very sexy! LOL. That's why I love my pole job! Keeps me balanced, sane, and I get to meet sooooo many cool and totally awesome ladies that otherwise I'd never have met.

I should be there! I work in a school and the convention is timed perfectly for my summer break. Plus I think I might be holding a teacher cert. workshop there!!

Also, on my 3 different dvd players, she is half cut off during her dance section? I've tried different widescreen and zoom options. I guessing it was for artistic purposes???

Leah & Vaud – Knee hyperflexion stresses the knee joint. It's not good to take a joint beyond it's normal range of motion. You have many ligaments in your knee and a meniscus. Hyperflexion can tear the soft tissue of the knee joint. You can google many articles about 'sitting in the W position' to learn about concerns for that position. It may be fine for you to sit that way and you might both have hypermobile joints. I have a hypermobility condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and many people with it sit like that as a child. I can do all sorts of funky things with my joints, but I know I shouldn't. I can touch my thumbs to my wrists and the top knuckle of my fingers and toes bend backwards, etc. My doc at Hopkins is all over me for being cautious with my joints which is one of the reasons my alarm bells went off when doing the V bros video. I am also an ACE certified instructor and we are warned not to instruct our classes to hyperflex or hyperextend the joints. We can be held liable if we do that and someone gets an injury. Lots of girls hyper extend their elbows while poling and I often have to correct it. Just be careful and listen to your body. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
