I have the DVDs. Just a warning that one of their stretch is contra-indicated for the knees. The stretch is the one where you lay flat on your back with both knees bent so that your heels are next to your hips. It hyper-flexes the knees and I definitely don't recommend it.
I'd stick to Veena's lessons. Just sayin'.

I've no idea if they have a fridge or not! I would just bring a cooler to be on the safe side.

Linda, you'll need to bring a resistance band, two old men's ties, a blindfold, food, drinks, plus something comfy to sit on. Dress really comfortably with pole clothes underneath. No shoes are necessary.

Hi Linda,
We'll start Sat at 2 and go until 8:30. We'll pick back up on Sunday at 8 and go until 2:30. I am flying in Sat morning, getting a hotel for one night and flying back out Sun night. It sounds like you'll be fine getting a hotel for one night.

Aww Polepuma, you make me blush! Thank you! Your words mean a lot and I'm so pleased you enjoyed my shoulder segment!
I wrote the initial post over a year ago and a few things have changed. It is now 12 hours total and the manual has expanded so I have adjusted the price to reflect that. I also have a 6 student minimum for travel trainings.
I changed websites so here is my new link: http://www.discoveriesdance.com/
I'm really looking forward to the Indy training! Can't wait to meet you Kobajo, Sparrow and Rikki!!

Charley, wow! That list is awesome! We should take that and then add some columns with different info like prices, length, curriculum, pre-req's etc. That would be such a great resource for people!! Maybe if I find some time on my hands….https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_viking.gif
Empy, that disclaimer could mean that they are in the process of being approved to offer CEUs?? It does take a month or two. There have been no changes to my course as I am still approved to offer 1.2 CEUs.
I took the Pole Position course in 2008 and it was ACE approved at the time and I earned .7 or .8 ACE CEUs. I noticed in 2009 that Pole Position wasn't listed on the ACE website anymore (and still isn't) and I figured they dropped their affiliation with ACE. Maybe they are reapplying?

Aviva,
Is it on Balt. Craigslist? I saw one there earlier today. I'd have been interested if it were a 45! I think 300 is reasonable if it's in mint condition. I think it'd sell a lot quicker though if it were priced lower than that.

Payton, you wrote that X-Pert is the only pole certification recognized by both ACE and AFFA. I just wanted to let you know that my program, Discoveries Dance, is both ACE and AFFA approved as well.

I should add that when I go to studios to do instructor training I get girls from competing studios in the same room for about 13 hours over the course of a weekend. There have been little issues here and there, but I'd say 95% of the time, everyone plays nice.

Good always wins over evil. Love always conquers hate. Just like in the movies 🙂

At the studio I used to teach at the owner bad mouthed another local studio so much that I was afraid to go there. She made the workers there seem like nasty monsters. She said if I went I should lie about being an instructor and be careful b/c they might not let me in. She also of course wanted a full report (like I was a spy). Anyway, I went there, met a bunch of truly wonderful ladies that I have become good friends with and I am always welcomed with very open arms!! I don't think I ever told my boss I went. Needless to say, I don't work for the studio I first mentioned anymore.

Thanks for the shout out tatpoleny!! Thank you so much for inviting me to your studio! It is the prettiest studio I've yet to see and your girls were fantastic!
I last posted in this thread well over a year ago so I just wanted to put in an update! My course was launched last summer! I have a website that people can go to for more information. http://www.discoveriesdance.com. It is approved by ACE, AFAA, and the PFA. It's a 12 hour course designed for experienced dancers, meaning you need to already be able to pole as I don't teach moves in my curriculum. My fee was set using fitness standards, so it is very affordable.
That being said, Empy's course, X-Pert, and Climb and Spin all look amazing and it goes without saying they are taught by the best of the best. I highly recommend any of them in addition to getting your Group Fitness Certification!

Just read back through the thread and realized that this discussion was already had – about a year ago. LOL. Guess things haven't changed with the production company or the people behind it….Must have been quite the family emergency…

I noticed that JK's DVD is affiliated with another dancer who put out a DVD that lots of people here had problems with. Both vids are from 'Pole Cat Power'. This was about a year or so ago. There were problems with major lack of communication as well as delays. It's such a shame as both ladies are very talented and have a lot to offer.
