Amy hung from a rope that was wrapped around the pole. Crazy! Nadia rocked the chair, and Michelle was just her awesome self! You could tell Nadia LOVES being on stage, she gave me goosebumps. Michelle gets such a fierce look in her eyes likes she’s gonna eat up the crowd.
They were announcing the winner and before they said her name someone from the crowd shouted ‘Michelle’. -

Last year it was anything goes. I went to the am, the pro, and the after-party. I think I wore jeans with flats to the am and then went to the car and changed into heels for the pro and afterparty. People were in jean, sweats, dresses, miniskirts…a little bit of everything. I'm traveling up from MD on a bus, so I'll only have a little bag of clothes for the weekend. I'm gonna keep it simple and go middle of the road with what I wear AND keep it as comfortable as possible. I'm 40 and married and I'm not out to impress anyone plus I'll be walking around in between competitions. Last year, I walked up to central park and by the end of the night my feet were killing me!

Oh I hate this problem. I've sold off brand new shoes for this very reason. My toes look like bird claws that clutch onto the front end of the shoe. (nice visual, huh?). My most recent solution? I go barefoot! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

I love Lady M! Her first two vids are fantastic, I learned so much from them that I used in my chair dance classes. Looks like I'm going to have to add this to my collection!

Thanks for asking pinkbubbles. I'm doing much much better. Physical therapy was great and the pain has almost completely lifted. I did stop poling and even yoga was difficult and I love both so much!!
Pole safe ladies!!!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif I highly recommend Veena's strengthening exercises!

I should add that this wasn't just a minor tear. My forearm extensor common tendon is 50% torn off the bonehttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif. My official diagnosis is 'lateral epicondylitis' otherwise know as tennis elbow. Doc says I shouldn't grip anything hard with my right hand. You know, like a pole! LOL.

Hey pink bubbles, not to scare you, but I tore a tendon in my R arm from the TG handspring. I did it multiple times in a row early in the morning and then later in the day I busted one out when I wasn't warmed up. I heard a rip. Now granted I was 38 when it happened, but I am super conditioned and I had been poling for 2 years when this happened. I guess it was a combo of too much work on a cold muscle that was in a twisted and elongated position. A year and a half later and I'm still not back to normal. I just spent two months in Physical therapy and get autologous blood transfusions to the area as well. I also wore a brace for a year and took prescription anti-inflamatory meds. Oh, and there were the cortisone shots….
I teach a teacher training program and I advise my trainees not to teach it. Just do it the regular way. You could try lowering into it from an inversion so you don't have that sudden pull and force of the handspring on your tendon.

She is a sweetheart, I had a lesson with her in Virginia. She told me that had booked a travelling job to teach lessons once before that and after she paid her travel costs she didn't make a profit. The girl's got so much talent it's incredible, but she doesn't seem super interested in entering our little pole world.
Oh, and she is definitely super tiny. I'd say around 90 lbs. She is just adorable!

Hi Caity! Sending you a warm welcome! I'm from Baltimore and there are a ton of us mid-Atlantic ladies on this site. You're in good hands with Veena's lessons. She has her lessons organized into levels and she will keep you safe if you follow her advice!
See you around the site!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

I’m pretty sure there were 40 in the workshop because I remember thinking, wow, $4,000 for one hour! She didn’t make it over to my pole either. She showed us the ‘eagle’, a transition from inside knee hang to split grip aysha and how to get into the superman from a knee hang. I knew those things so my friends helped me work on the superman drop.

MemberFebruary 12, 2011 at 5:39 pm in reply to: International Pole Convention 2011, West Palm BeachHi Meagan,
The whole thing was really exciting! There was a main room with presentations and performances. There was a vendor room to wonder around and learn about different pole products and such. Then there were pole rooms where the workshops took place. I only took the Felix workshop and there were a ton of girls in there! 40-50??? It was about 4 to a pole. She taught 3-4 moves. I didn't do the Pole Jam with the Stars, but I imagine that'd be great! The best for me was all the performances, showcases, and speaker presentations. Also went to a late night party in a hotel suite that had BaddAzz, Felix, Amber Richards and Zoriah show up and play around on the poles. Somehow I wound up in a hottub with Jenyne Butterfly, Amber Richards, and Michelle Stanek. I got to meet lots of Veeners and I saw a ton of my friends. It was great for networking and just a bunch of fun overall. Oh, got to meet Fawnia too! So cool! I left very inspired (and tired).https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
