Pole makes me feel younger because I feel capable and strong. I have nursed two injuries since I started, but just need to be more patient and keep up the conditioning and thorough warm ups. Pole on!

Love all this… You guys have obviously put a lot of care and planning into your site. 🙂
Re: Non-Pole topics (like pets, boyfriend problems, etc., lol!) Perhaps you can have a button up where your other categories are… Like Home Gallery Lessons…Then after Events, for example, add “Non-Pole” or “Everything Else”…
Just a suggestion so people know right away, this is encouraged and Here Is the Place!
For me, when I am reading through a topic on The CKR, and someone says “I am so bummed out. I can’t eat or sleep…” Omg! That takes me right off thinking about the CKR and wanting to help them! In a way the thread is hijacked. But those other topics are important too.
That’s why I think an obvious category on the menu bar for other interests and feelings would be great. -
No, but I will look into that. Thank you! 🙂

Yes, Webby, it did upload here. I did try to use your sharing button, but it didn’t post on my wall. I really think fb has blocked all my video-posting attempts. I will contact fb to straighten it out.

That last thing you said, CrazyKosters, is probably what’s happening. I kept trying to upload again and again, thinking “I” was doing something wrong. They would see that as many different attempts. aka infractions.
I did try to upload it from StudioVeena, but it still didn’t go through. -
The first time (possible music issue), I explained, and the block was lifted immediately. This time, it never even posted first… I was just blocked. So maybe because there was a “prior”, I now flag it? Also, since the first two posted, wouldn’t they no longer be viewable, if the block was due to a hater? I can still see them there…

Newbie here, but I can do a pole sit, so I will add to the discussion. I was surprised how much I needed to sit at a tilt with one hip raised. I almost leaned over to side. I also had to use iTac on my thighs and pole. Now that I have “found” the position, I don’t need the grip aid nearly as often. I think that your thighs would be more of a help than hinderance. The more you do it, the less it hurts. (not on the same day, lol!)

I love this part of the article that Lisa shared:
“And here’s another thing, for the single women reading. Once a man has seen a couple real-life women naked, he knows that real-life women have cellulite and stretch marks and jiggly thighs and other normal little traits that the media tries to convince us are flaws. Men who expect women to be perfect are men who have more experience with porn and magazines and blow-up dolls than real-life women. Any man who judges your worth on the basis of the presence of cellulite is only doing you the favor of letting you know that he doesn’t have much experience with women, and that he isn’t worth your time. There are plenty of men out there who know what real-life women look like, and who will value you for who you are and not the dimpliness of your thighs. Do yourself the favor of not wasting your time on the former.” -
Shadow, you are grieving. Losing a two-year relationship is a big deal. Then add the loss of your granddad, the holidays (seems to make things worse), and you have the perfect storm for a bout of depression.
My advice is to #1 – be nice to yourself. You will come out of this. #2- Make a list each day of very small steps you can accomplish. Even if it’s something like “take shower”. Or “put on makeup”. Nothing is too small to list. #3 – Try to think of something that can begin to lift you up, so you can look forward to something. Going to the movies? A hike? The spa? Long-distance call with old friend?
Don’t worry about putting up the pole for a few weeks. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. If you don’t feel any peppier in two or three weeks, maybe go to a counselor?
Just don’t give up – this too shall pass! -
I’m hoping to make it the CAR…

I’m still a newbie, so it’s fresh in my mind! It’s an absolute miracle how things progress!! I remember not being able to grip the pole at all… couldn’t begin to climb… couldn’t pole sit for longer than half a second. Something happens. Your body learns where the “sweet spot” is. I recall specifically getting a shin bruise every time I tried to climb. Then adjusting the position a hair, and Bang! It works, and it doesn’t hurt! This has been true about every new move. I am quickly learning to never say never!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but is your pole warm and conditioned, not just you…? When I got my new-to-me pole, I put grip aid all over it, then wiped it all down. It felt great. Is your house/room warm? Maybe warmer at studio? Maybe their poles are more broken in with use, so they are grippier? Just something else to consider.

That’s funny, Calipole! In Malibu here- I often refer to it sadly as the Land of Entitlement – I’m betting these women wouldn’t climb for less than $100 bills, lol! Wait, no, they’d have their personal assistants climb for them! 😀

Mia, you can get a huge bag of wash cloths at any auto supply store, like Pep Boys… After using the rag a few times, wash in sink with dishwashing detergent to get out most of the gunk. Then wash it in washing machine with other “work towels”. That’s about as good as you can do, I believe. 🙂
