I remember seeing them in shops a couple years ago when they began to become popular and thinking "WHOA those are $350 STRIPPER shoes!" I even see fancy clear ones every once in a while, that are certainly less comfortable and waaayyy more expensive than my trusty Pleasers. So, I’d say, yeah! Now’s the time to rock them. I think they look great with skinny jeans.

I feel like I am getting old too! I’ll be 27 in a month. It all happened this last year…feeling sore for DAYS after exercise, sore wrists from poling, I can’t even drink anymore! It’s awful. I’ve got to double my efforts to stay in shape. Best of luck with your knees! Isn’t it awful how something relatively small can throw off your whole body?

Welcome! I love your profile picture, what a beautiful family. I am a Californian trying to make a life with my Deutscher Mann in Berlin, it’s fun but challenging!
Veena’s lesson are great, and the forums provide great support and advice from the whole community while you learn. I would recommended starting to get conditioned now before your pole comes so you can be ready to jump right on! (Strength training, etc.)

Sweet, I managed to save this, before it inevitably gets taken down! (Firefox download helper, y’all!). If only I was quick enough last time when some of the other USPDF videos were up!!!

Grace an execution will be much more impressive than something fancy, especially if you are worried about it!
Its funny, I definitely watch pole dancing from an ”insider’s” perspective, i am impressed by things that I can’t do or that I know are difficult generally, but the general public I imagine has a whole different view! Have some non-poling friends watch you practice and give you their opinions on what will be crowd pleasers!
haha, love your word choice, by the way. Abort Mission! Mission Abort!

MemberDecember 8, 2009 at 2:54 pm in reply to: how long does it take u to get a move?Yeah its different for everyone! I’m a pretty cautious person and do not come from a fitness (at all) background so I usually do one move over and over and over to get confident before moving on to another. but then after mastering these moves, i find it easier to do similar ones. I had my gemini down for years but could never ‘figure out’ the scorpio until i started on SV. Sissy is absolutely right, work those hips and armpits into it! If you bruise, you are on your way. After having gotten the two moves down perfect and confidently with strong contact points i was able to switch between the two mid pole so easily i surprised myself!

i often get up from my knees by sloooowly (makes the awkwardness look intentional – and sexy!) to one foot and then the other. Booty (for balance) is often involved. Also, it is easier to be sitting on your shins and kind of rolling up onto both feet using the tops of your feet. This method is often accompanied by rug burn and floor bruises, however, but just like all pole related injuries, it goes away! Watch videos of girls doing floor work for tips and practice slooow and controlled floor work on your own and it will get more and more graceful. Everyone gets tangled up in their platforms at first!

Hi! Where in Germany do you live? I live in Berlin but I’m an American girl https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif
Your dance experience with really help you with coordination and flexibility but the hard part is getting comfortable with the pole. At first it hurts! A lot! But it does get better. Viel Spaß!
