Definitely go to your doctor. I had a doc I didn’t like either, you must change! Maybe go to a health centre instead of a single doc, so you can switch easily between doctors, without having to have your files moved. Also, for your anxiety you could try Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. It’s a fairly new thing that involves changing the way you think and act in a way that can ease your anxiety. It doesn’t involve meds at all, so you won’t have to worry about side effects. It’s just a way to learn new coping techniques. You may as well go tomorrow, i’m sure you’ll be glad you did https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Yeah, it took me a while (and a bit of a fall… oops) to figure that one out! I think it looks a bit clumsy, but can only get better! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
…In the meantime, I think I should check out the thread on crash mats! lol!

Okay the vids up. Can I apologise in advance for my booty kind of hanging out of my panties! Had intended to put on a pair of shorts, but got too excited about inverting and forgot, lol!

Sorry you’re having all these headaches, but from what you’re saying, I’d say it’s totally normal. Some people are just headachy people. It often runs in families, and can just be the way your body and mind manifests stress or anxiety. If you were to get a sharp headache with a sudden onset, that is unbearably painful, then I’d worry.
You say typical painkillers don’t help. Sometimes this may be a sign that you’re having migraine rather than just a headache, has your doc looked into that? Also, headaches could indicate chronic sinusitis. These are just things you could mention, or look up and see if it’s a possibility, as if you have either, there could be different meds that could help. Otherwise, my advice would be to try and find a way to better manage your anxiety, and maybe that will help your headaches.
Oh! one more thing you probably know is that dehydration can cause headaches too, so make sure you keep hydrated https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Hope you feel better, and don’t worry! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

Hehe thanks! I’m so happy! Maybe be my last poling session until next week unfortunately so nice to stop on a good note. Will have a vid up in a few mins hopefully https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Thanks polergirl, i’ll try that next time, maybe later tonight. I got the CKR today too, (good day for me!) coming back up into a pole sit really works the abs, so maybe i’ll try doing like CKR crunches?! lol!

I can do knee raises, I’ve been practicing those, although I don’t find them easy as such! I usually stop doing them as I don’t feel they’re working my abs (maybe I didn’t do enough!) Will look through my footage and upload a vid asap. Thanks guys! (yay!) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Okay I’ll be honest, I can’t do it from my knees, but I seem to be able to do it on my tippy toes. Is there anything in specific I should work on to strengthen my abs and make sure I can do it right?

Glad you got your pole finally!
I did have the same problem, I just had to try to turn them as much as possible.. (I think you’re actually tightening the joint to make the bit smaller.. so it slides out of the tube). Try not to round the little holes while you’re doing it, by making sure the hex key is all the way in before you start trying to turn. And make sure you’re following the arrows on the Xjoint (I know these arrows are covered when the joint is in the tube, but it will probably have them on the other end of the joint, or else in the manual).
And you’ll also need some good ol’ elbowjuice as those things can be a b*tch to get out!
Good luck!

I got a pain in the back of my upper arm a couple of weeks ago, where my tricep is. I don’t know if it was the pain you are describing though. Mine twinged when I lifted myself up on to the pole, quite painful, as if the muscle was torn or something? Then afterwards it would ache. I pushed through for a couple of days, then finally gave in and rested it for a few days. Now I try to stick to leaving one day between practices, and I haven’t had the same problem. But then again i’m a beginner, so I don’t know if it was just because of that!

Yep Jenn I wasted money on a dvd too. It was really bad, the only move I could do on the first day was a fireman spin… so was i just supposed to keep practising it until I got stronger?! Veena has loads of fun transition moves and strength training too.

My pole’s only a month old, and when I was putting it together the first time I noticed a bit of rust inside the tubes, which is apparently normal. Also, last week I thought I noticed the part I hold to spin wearing down, which I hope was my imagination (I think it may have been!), because it shouldn’t be, especially not so soon?! Is there any way window cleaner could damage it, even though the manual recommends it?
-
Thanks Polenovice! I know how it feels to be waiting for your pole. There are alot of exercises you could practise on Veena’s lessons before you even get your pole, but i know you’d rather wait, as it would be painful to watch pole lessons, and not be able to try them! I’d recommend some light weight, or even just pushups!
Looking forward to seeing your first vids on your new pole!

Sorry Heatha, totally missed your comment, i’ll look out for that thanks. I guess my whole body gets sweaty, but mostly my hands. I think it might be that I get a bit nervous about slipping and they get worse. Maybe it’s all in my mind!

Lol good to know i’m not the only one! Yeah i’ll check that out, thanks. I’m kind of reluctant to use it, as I’m afraid i’ll come to rely on it! Guess it’s better than getting extremely frustrated with a sweaty pole!
