Ok found what you guys say about dancing on carpet. I’m just starting so will be dancing in my bare feet for a while anyway. And we have carpet. Veena’s suggestion about tape on the feet is along the lines of what i was thinking, but would ballet pumps be a more practical (and attractive!) solution? I havent used these in years (you know the flat pink ones with the elastic across them?), I think they would be slippy, and therefore suitable for poling on carpet? Would these be good for poling in, or would they prevent pole-foot contact??

    What do you think?

Hey just though i’d update in case anyone else had th same problem as me. I couldn’t find any joists by knocking, everything sounded hollow. Forked out 15 euro for a stud finder, which didnt work as the ceiling is plasterboard! But today, i had someone (who knows stuff about ceilings) pop out some of the spotlights as look in with a torch. Turns out there are some joists , and he said that they wouldnt sound different by knocking. So now i can have a pole https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I had cancelled my xpole order, but am now delighted to order again today! So if anyone thinks they may have false ceilings or no joists, may be worth having a look!

I’m not sure, like 8 and a half feet? Am going to pop out some spot lights and have a look tomorrow, but im pretty sure the joists are 2-3 inches above the plasterboard :'(

Do platinum stages have a UK supplier? As the stand alone pole looks good

I’m considering getting an xstage as my ceiling seems to be unsuitable for an xpole. however, i haven’t got really high ceilings, so i’d have to have it cut down (do xpole do this in advance?) With the pole being cut down, and the height that the podium takes up, it seems like i wouldn’t have much space to work with. I don’t really want an xstage, but it seems like my last resort because of my stupid joistless plasterboard ceilings!

That’s not an option for me unfortunately for lots of reasons. Im thinking I may have to go for an xstage instead. But not only do i think they are much less attractive, but with the podium and my fairly low ceilings, i’d have to get it cut down, so it wouldn’t have much height to work with. Is it worth it? It seems like my last option to have a pole…

Haha true. I’m willing to put down a few cushions ad take the risk, but don’t want to risk destroying the landlord’s ceiling? Is it actually likely that the pole could damage a ceiling??

Have had a look into the stage poles, not keen on those, and aren’t the very expensive. Don’t think I could afford one. Scraped together the cash for a new XPert X Pole, now might not be able to use it at all… :,(

Oh i have the exact same problem. I’ve just ordered an X Pole to go in my new apartment. Went to see the apartment today and te ceiling is totally hollow. I’m gutted. Looked it up and X Pole doesn’t recommend using them on false ceilings. Although, apparently some people have done it without incident. Not sure if it’s worth the risk! I’d imagine repairing a massive hole in the ceiling would be costly.
