poledanceromance I totally get where your coming from in the last part. I too am a serious poler and moving into advanced and from there I want to start booking performances. Poling is something I want to pursue as a side job so the fact that Im trying to make it a part of my professional life and wont be able to talk about it much kinda sucks. Jade I totally get where your coming from too, they just dont get it because they havent been in my shoes (6 inch heels) lol. I always feel so accomplished when Im holding poses and using my body to keep me there. They cant relate to that feeling, Its an amazing one and I love it <3

Thanks collins 🙂 I completely agree with you and so far there hasnt been much talk about it and I do try to talk to them about things they like as well. I guess it was just bugging me because poling is such a huge part of my life right now, I do it every other day and I base certain decisions in the day around whether its a pole day or not. Recently though I've been missing some of my other hobbies I used to have and am trying to find time to add them into my life again.

My own friends have not made me feel weird about it but its mainly facebook connections from high school and what not. I've been trying to get to know my bf's friends more, cuz theyre the ones that live out in our area and they are like family to him. He talks to his friends about all the neat things hes seen me do and what not but I find its difficult for me to talk to their girls about it. I'll say a little something on the subject and it just doesnt go very far, I think they just dont understand what it is that I do. I was telling my bf maybe sometime we have a get together at the house I could do some showing of combos or something, maybe they might even want to try it if they knew. I love the community here though, we are all so supportive 🙂

These are great answers thanks so much ladies 🙂

I still havent got a grasp on moving to the music, I really want to get to that point though. I also havent really done routines with floorwork, spins and transition moves. any tips on how to do all that?

I've messed around in front of the mirror to certain tunes but I always feel like the type of moving that comes naturally to me is more sexual than what I want public to see. Especially family.

Yeah the more I think about it, your right I'm not really being challenged. Lately I've been working on my bad side cuz my good side is pretty good with the things I've learned there. Its definitely time to move on to the next level. Every time I'm there I keep trying to think of something else to work on that I've seen in a book or online.

They are firm on pricing so I didnt go there but I did send her a message mentioning it in the nicest way possible that the girls in class do ask for assistance quite a bit and that I was wondering if there are any job opportunities there, if not maybe later and I asked if theres anything I should be doing to get closer to the instructor point. I'm thinking it may be time to move onto the next level, Im the only one in the intermediates that can do 8 or more tricks down the pole all at once. I'll have to drop in on some advanced classes once I've used up all my intermediates, theres no way I can afford to go every week but once in awhile is probably better than learning the rest at home. The instructor in intermediate goes around to all the poles and makes sure every girl gets a chance to work with her but thats the time that the other girls keep asking me to reshow moves theyve seen me do so they can do it as well.

Thanks everyone for helping me out with this 🙂

I've been going there for about a year and so far it seems like students do ask students for help if they see that someone has gotten a certain move or spin down. I think that turning them down would've been better in the beginning of the journey. I'm wondering if its time I just break down and finally pay twice as much for advanced classes or if I do most at home and drop in on some advanced classes maybe.

The question came to mind for me when I was thinking about when people ask me how I got such bad blisters or bruises. I dont want to tell everyone in the world that its from pole. Not everyone needs to know that ya know? So what would I call it? Extreme sport did come to mind but I wasnt sure if it was fitting enough. I thought about saying dancing for a second but thats not really my focus in this art. Thanks for the answers fellow polers 🙂

I have not tried both, I have only used poles at the studio I learn in and the one I have at home. My home pole is the 45 tg x pole. Its great once it gets warmed up with some spins otherwise I slip right off. Always start with some spins then go into positions where your holding and gripping onto the pole. Its a great size too, I prefer it to both the 40 and the 50 at the studio.
