Really appreciate this thread. I purchased a pole half a year ago and it's just been in my living room, looking pretty. I was SO discouraged by my lack of upper body and core strength, that I just didn't do anything with it. Too boot, the weight I had managed to lose (~ 30 lbs) I have no re-gained and am now about 70 – 90 lbs overweight. That's very discouraging.
I had contemplated purchasing a pole for a long time and finally decided to just go for it since the 2 classes I had taken previously were so enjoyable, but I really couldn't afford to take studio classes at this time. I don't want this to be a decision to have back-fired and will try to find a way to purchase the year-long plan today – THANK YOU, Veena, for the cyber-sale! A structured, slow and progressive plan is hopefully the way.

Thanks so much for this thread, it's been extremely helpful since I am new also and can only hope to one day to one pull up (right now I seem to be clenching all the wrong muscles in an attempt to make my body move … or just hang there … ouch, my bruised ego)

my floor is slanted slightly also. My big fear is that I'll crack the laminate / damage the joints. So I'm a bit confused about possibly damaging the ceiling if the floor is slanted.
It never occured to me that it'd be ok for the pole to not be perfectly upright (perpendicular to what should be a level floor). The idea scares me a little, to tell the truth, but will wholeheartedly trust you on this. Of course… if the top is to be perfectly flush with the ceiling, then it can't be perfectly flush on the floor if the floor is not level. …… (maybe I'm overthinking this – really don't want to damage the floor, however)

I am SO glad for this post/question.
I have semi-decent laminate flooring, but live in a ground-level ("basement") suite with concrete base, which is not completely level. I am very nervous about potentially damaging the laminate flooring, but realize the purchase of an X-Pole is probably the most economically responsible way for me to try and reach my goal … assuming my floor doesn't bust into pieces.
Any way for me to assess what the potential dangers might be?
Also, I currently weigh about 215 lbs (am losing) – would the X Pole support me at this stage? Or should I lose more weight first before attempting to purchase/use one?
