I am beyond rubbish at thinking of stage names! my pet/street name is Suki Saxon, hmmmm porn name me thinks.
I would love to use my surname Gunn but that doesn't really suit my style. Other ideas include using Dragon (Im obsessed with them and just started a major dragon tattoo back piece, yay!) and my first name Lex. But I always think of Sexy Lex, that isnt me either.
Im stumped https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

Is it the same reason you continued?I started because I had reached an alltime low with my self image, I had put on a large amount of weight after quiting smoking and having my first child. A work collegue of my husbands suggested Pole lessons that were running in my town. I hadn't done much exercise for a very long time and was usually into water sports when I did anything, Kayaking, swimming, windsurfing etc. I kind of fell in and out of love with pole for a while, the classes I was going to were just basic moves worked into dance routines for cardio exercise, I also had another child but continued to exercise as much as I could.
Then I discovered Zoraya Judd on you Tube one day and OMG I had to learn to do that!!!!
I started looking for online lessons and stumbled on Studio Veena, ordered an x-pole and began Veenas strength videos. I have not looked back since.
Im now 32 years old and feel that I have FINALLY found the thing Im meant to do with my life, I really want to compete and teach others but the thing that really keeps me addicted is that feeling you get when your body surprises you as you learn yet another superhuman move! Im also a very emotional person and pole gives me a means of expression. I think about pole nearly every second of every day, whenever I hear a song I make up a routine in my head.
I LOVE POLE!

I find im my own worst enemy when it comes to progress in anything, but especially when its something I love as much as I do Pole. Im painfully self critical and never believe Im doing as well as anyone else.
I have been poling on and off for 3 years, between having my 2 kids, mainly to help me loose weight. I went to local pole fitness classes which were fantastic for me then, but I hit that wall where I just wasn't progressing anymore, but also didn't feel 100% confident with what I already knew. So about 2 months ago I decided to start learning again from scratch, using Veena's fantastic videos! I began with 1 month of dance and strength work. moving on to basic spins and inverts, making sure I work on both sides too…. I went back to my class last week for the first time since doing this. I Managed not only to do a shoulder mount ( which defied me totally before), but actually held myself vertical against the pole for a count of 5!!!! then controlled the descent. I was utterly gob smacked! Now my confidence is much better as I know I must be doing something right to have progressed this much.

Ginger Kitty, Very true! The pole community is so supportive and non judge-mental on looks. I actually began Pole as a way to regain some love for myself after babies and quitting smoking . I love that I am strong, fit and shaped the way I am. I feel totally empowered by pole. All I need now are some stronger muscles so I can do more of the moves! (Also wish pregnancy flexibility stayed after the kids were born)

Thats really frustrating! I Just went through a lot of mucking about myself trying to buy a second hand x pole. After buying one only to find it was not the x pert advertised I had to return it, finally gave in and got a new xpert from x pole them selves. But what I did notice was that there are tons of people buying second hand poles on eBay in the UK. Most seem to want a 50mm. I would suggest looking into selling on there. Sometimes 45's come up on there too. Good luck!

It was fantastic! I was able to do the moves I knew I was capable of once I had the grip. I still need to buy a pole (but alas my ceilings are too short, V frustrated!) but as soon as I can Im getting an x-pole expert 45 mm. Once you have the confidence, strength and knowledge of the moves you can then move up to a 50 if needed for comp practice.
As for your instructor, Just make sure you don't do anything you feel uncomfortable with. It took me nearly 6 months to get my first invert. Been pole dancing for about 2 yrs now and had my first fall last night (my own stupid fault) On to a mat thankfully or I would be in hospital now!

I currently go to classes where we use 50mm x poles, I always really struggle to get a good grip with my hands for inverted moves which I find really disheartening. I was fortunate enough to go to another local(ish) studio to try 45mm poles which were amazing! I could do so much more than previously on the 50's but anything involving leg grips did hurt a lot more too. Im still to get my own pole (soon I hope!!!!!) and am definitely more drawn to the 45. then maybe once I am a much stronger poler and confident with the moves I will get a 50 also, just incase Im ever brave enough to try a competition.
