Cardio is, by definiation, an activity that keeps your heart rate up. WHen you're working on tricks, it isn't cardio. If you're dancing, and keeping your heart rate up consistently for 10-20 minutes, then it's cardio. Sparkpeople.com has a lot of fun, 10 minute cardio videos.

Mayve strength training and pole tricks…and cardio and pole dancing. Switch those off and on. I don't pole dance- I focus on tricks, so I have to do different cardio. I do ST every day (upper body, lower body, core, upper, lower, core..ect) So maybe you can do 10 minutes of ST and pole tricks, and the next day get your cardio in by dancing???

I’m not telling how much I weigh, but I am also 5’6" and heavy. I love poleing. I am taking a break from it right now, but not because of my weight. I do invert, and have been inverting for quite some time. I can’t invert from the pole, but I have found other ways to get my booty over my head. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I can side climb and then drop down, which means I end up inverted but high on the pole. We can do this. Maybe not as "Well" as the skinny girls, but we can rock that pole.

I’ve taken breaks before and come back without too much of a problem. I’m currently on a break…so far it’s been 2 1/2 months- totally voluntary- and I’m not worried at all. I may lose some strength, but like other people have said, it comes back. No big loses.

I kinda figured that’s what you meant chem, but I didn’t want to talk for you. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif We all are different, and those differences make us unique and special. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m not sure what chem was referring to, but thank you for sharing your feelings. My mom was an alcoholic, so I know a bit about it. I think it makes drinkers feel guilty to drink around non drinkers. I can DEFINITELY understand how it could impact building relationships. I have a lot of problems building friendships because I’m the Adult Child of an Alcoholic (Acoa). Stuff like that impacts a lot about a person. Thanks for feeling comfortable enough to share your difficulties. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m not "friends" with any of my pole buddies. I took a break from pole 2 months ago, and haven’t heard from anyone. When I’m in class we’re "so close" but we don’t do anything that isn’t pole related. We don;t hang out just because or call each other up to see how we’re doing. I guess that’s life when you grow up….

Well, after the performance, I didn’t tell anyone I was in the wig………

And I know I signed the release, which is why I say I know I don’t have a lot of control over the posting of the video, but I also know there were a lot of people taking vids/ pics. While I can’t stop anyone from posting, I would appreciate it if no one went out of their way to post it. I don’t want people seeing the performance. I wore the wig so when it was posted I wouldn’t lose my job,…but the performance was the worst excuse for a dance I have personally ever witnessed, and I don’t really like the idea of it being out there for people to see. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I think most people know this, but I would prefer for my video to not be posted. I signed a release, so if it is posted, oh well for me, but please, no one go out of your way to post the video. I was in the pink wig. Thanks. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I make a list of the tricks I know, then I get the lyrics to the song. There are some moves that would go with certain words, so I write those down under the lyrics.

"There she was just a walking down the street singing do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
    —walk around pole, smile"
Snapping her hands and a shuffling her feet singing do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
—change directions, walk around, snap fingers, look at the audience, sing do wah diddy"

Like that. Some parts I leave out choreography because I just want to do floor work, some places I add the tricks I wanna do.

    Have fun!!!

Ok…..so who’s going to Jamaica?? I am going!!! I would love love love to be able to meet some SVers while I’m there!! So….My name is Shelly. I will be landing in Jamaica on Saturday (the 6th or whatever day that is). Umm…I have a tat of an ankh (I should know how to spell that) on my ankle and a lotus flower on my thigh. Umm..blondish hair. I’m a bit chunky. I was at the midwest pole jam, but I’m kinda quiet and shy (except when I’m in Jamaica) so you may not have noticed me in Chicago. I will be drinking *a lot.* The bar is a good place to find me. I will not, however, be drunk. Blame it on my DNA. lol. I would love to meet you!!

And PS…the 6th (I think) is Michelle Mynx’s birthday, so when you see her, showed her with love!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
