I swear by the white distilled vinegar.  It is the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me and it works GREAT!!!

Don't feel bad!!  Just be happy that you are making progress too!  I've been poling for about 1 1/2 now and I'm just learning the gemini!  On the other hand I have a friend who has come over to pole twice now….the FIRST TRY she nails the invert, gemini and CKR.  Second time she came over she nailed the superman, shoulder mount, catapillar, and flat line scorpio…like WTF I've been trying these moves FOREVER!!  Haha…you'll get there, and when you do it won't matter how fast your friend did!

Holy Hell…FINALLY!!!  I've tried everything…windex, warm soapy water, mighty grip, itac2 level 3….etc.  Tried the white distilled vinegar yesterday and I can't even discribe how happy I am….IT WORKS!!  I live in FL and we have a humid climate which equals a sweaty mess and I didn't have to wipe my hands even ONCE for almost 2 hours of poling!!  I bought the Publix brand and I swear by it!!

I’m a bigger girl as well. I started on one of the "cheaper" poles…I can’t really remember what brand name it was but I bought it off ebay for around $150. It did have a small screw that went in the ceiling (that also doubled as a plant hook for diguise) and I really didnt have a problem with it until it started to warp where the pole pieces fit together and the pole piece actually started to over-lap one another creating a very sharp surface. The reason I bought a cheaper one was basically just to see if I was going to like pole dancing enough and actually stick with it. Sure enough I fell in love and about a year later bought an X-pole. I love my X-pole, very sturdy, and it does not screw into the ceiling. Its never left a mark on my ceiling, hardwood floors, or fallen down. I do wish I would have stuck with the 50mm instead of switching to the 45mm because I feel that tricks are harder to hold with the smaller pole. I also wish I would have gotten brass because a lot of ladies say they are much grip-i-er, and living in FL with all the humidity its almost IMPOSSIBLE to maintain any kind of grip no matter which grip aides you use. If I were you, and you know pole dancing is something ur going to love….buy an expensive pole…its a great investment https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

My first pole was a 50mm and then I got an X-pole that is a 45mm chrome. For spins I LOVE my 45mm because it is much easier to grip. I do however wish I had stuck with the 50mm because I do notice a big difference in trying to grip with my legs for inverts and tricks, seems a lot harder. I’ve you’ve learned on a 50mm I would stick with it!

    Hello!

I’m a bigger girl myself and I loveee poling!! I do beleive we are about the same size, Im 5’5 and currently at 173lbs although that fluctuates on an hourly basis…lol. When I first started poling about a year ago I thought it was super hard and that I’d never get anywhere but I have made a lot of progression. When I started I couldn’t climb the pole, do a pole sit for more than 2 seconds or do any kinds of inverts. I’m not one of the girls who practices everyday….I do it when I can, but I can now climb the pole no problem and really quick, I can sit for hours, I can invert, CKR, CAR, bridge, butterfly…etc. I just take one trick at a time and do my best to conquer it. I don’t think poling has done much for my figure….but then again I’m sure if it was something I did everyday it would. I can tell you that my strength, especially upper body has increased SOOOO much. Some things are hard to do because of my weight (and big boobs like minicooper said) but I still just try and try and try. I wish you luck in your poling adventures!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I seem to be having the opposite problem. When I click on videos to watch them I hear the music but the actual video doesnt play, its just a black screen in the video player box??? Some peoples videos I can see, others…not so much https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I have a popcorn ceiling as well and it doesnt not damage it. You WILL see a ring after taking it down from where the popcorn "pieces" get flattened by the force of the pole, plus if you dont tighten your pole enough and it starts to move (happened to me) the popcorn with fall off as the pole dome moves across the ceiling. The ring that it leaves really isnt noticable unless you are actually looking for it. I rent a house and my landlord came over to install a new AC unit and (to avoid an awkward conversation) I decided to take the pole down. There were no questions asked, he didnt even notice the ring. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!! Only I have a stainless steel X-Pole. I love the pole dont get me wrong but I can’t even do 2 spins let alone 2 tricks without the pole becoming SUPER slippery. I mean, I live in FL so its CONSTANTLY humid, but I keep my house at about 75-78 degrees. I’ve gotten so frustrated I barely practice but like you I’m thinking "whats the use?" Please post after you sand your pole and let me know what you think and if it helps… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
