Miraine; thanks for the tips.  Sadly I tried it, to no avail.  Nothing will loosen these hips up!

I cannot rotate my hips from a front split into a staddle, not because it is painful, but because it is impossible.  Imagine trying to close a door with something jammed in the gap behind the hinge.  You can rotate the door to a certain angle, but there is a point at which it will not progress.  This is what my hips feel like on both sides.  Its very depressing.

@scarlet:  you only have the problem on one side?  I wonder if it is injury related.  Have you ever suffered an injury to your hip joint?

Sounds like fun.  An idea for October: Weak side dance! I always find myself favoring one side or the other for particular moves.  It sure would be interesting if I switched all of them!

I have had many different pole injuries that cause me varying levels of concern.  I did have bruising and a small cyst on my hip that appeared associated with some aggressive inverted holds that I was doing.

Spigelian hernias occur along the edge of the rectus abdominus muscle through the spigelian fascia, which is several inches to the side of the middle of the abdomen.  I'm not quite sure from your description, where your injury is located.

It would be impossible to diagnose your injury without examining it.  You should probably visit a doctor or a sports injury professional for more information if you are concerned.  I think if you ignore it, you may risk further injury.  Good luck.

My favorite floor work move is a modified backward roll.  I lay on my back with my hands at my sides, then pike my legs over my head. I put both hands palm down above my shoulders and I roll backwards over my shoulder, keeping one toe on the ground and bending the other leg at the knee. You will slide backward and uncurl your torso.  It looks really pretty, but hmmm, maybe I need to make a video.

Thanks for all the inspiring quitting stories.  You are all wonderful and cheer me up immensely.  I still haven't had one.  But I haven't met certain other challenges either.  I haven't had a cocktail yet, with out smoking, or gone to a bar without smoking, or spent time with smoker friends without it either.  I suppose those things can wait tho.

I do hate the smell of it.
